• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hello Dolly

Hurricane Allen hit the same area 28 years ago in 1980

I was living there when that happened. As an 8 yr. old kid, I remember being fascinated by the damage as we returned after evacuating to Laredo.

Live coverage on the internet

Internet Partnership Radio is streaming multiple channels of coverage of Hurricane Dolly.

Currently we have the virtual studio coverage with commentary and the reading of the products from the NHC, and public safety messages and more.

There is also Corpus Christi NWS/NOAA Weather Radio if you want to hear what that region is listening to.

The area of likely landfall offers little, if any shooting vantage points, as I found out with Hurricane Gilbert. If it curves into Mexico, avoid that area all together.

It's also looking like a night-time landfall, so like others, I'll pass on Dolly. With what appears to be a busy season yet to come, there will be at least one big one this year I'm betting.

Just looking at all of the Satellite views of the area http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/satellite.shtml and the shortwave really shows the interaction between the low in west Texas and Dolly. It just had a burst around the center and looked like it jumped to the north.

That area is a wasteland and if it moves south, your in Mexico and if it moves north your in nothing but ranchland. The season is young and I can wait for something better as Chasing Dolly would be like trying to chase tornadoes in Southern Georgia in the middle of winter. Yeah it's a chase but will you see anything?

The eye structure has become less organized on BRO radar but pressure continues to drop, ~983mb extrapped from the last plane pass. The storm has perhaps 15-20 hours before serious land interaction ends its chance to intensify. Outflow is still good to all quads except south. Lets clear out that eye!

Dolly landfall

Will hit Wed morning or afternoon.

Good news is that the hurricane will NOT hit the multitude of oil rigs further north.

It appears to me that Dolly is wobbling north a bit. I have been thinking about heading south to get wet and have some fun filming Dolly. I wll decide at 0500 in the am with a primary target of Port Mansfield. May not be much to see? But anything beats 105 degrees without a cloud int he sky!

It looks like there may be an eye trying to form on the last few IR scans. Given the general increase in convection during the day, I bet we'll see an explosion tonight with the help of the diurnal cycle. These compact storms seem to have a mind of their own when contained in small ocean basins with high heat content.

TornadoVideos.net chasers Joel Taylor, Matt Chatelain, Matt Van Every, Curtis McDonald, and Daniel Bettern will be streaming live video tomorrow of the landfall, and last I heard the bridges to South Padre Island were still open (despite the announcement of a 6 pm closing time).

Per latest radar it appears Dolly is forming an organized eye. Dont know much about the dynamics of tropical systems but it seems she is intensifying rather nicely. Brownsville now looks to be hit dead on, maybe a bit further north. I bet we see major flooding issues with landfall and I know the poverty level is high in this area,so i hope everyone has the means to prepare for whats to come.

Multiple tornado warnings now occuring with confirmed rope by spotters.
