FOX 13 Weather in Tampa, FL, has produced a local special presentation about Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Category 4 and 5, respectively, that ravaged the west coast of Florida a year ago this month. What an active period this was. Helene was terrible for so many just for Milton to hit a max of like 898mb in the gulf before landfall as a cat 3 (I think) in a similar area
Yes, Charlie, correct! I live 150 miles north of where Milton made landfall on the late evening of October 9th at Siesta Key in Sarasota County. It was not widely reported outside the Tampa Bay market, but Sarasota County recorded the lowest sea-level pressure in its history (954mb) when Milton's eye made landfall. I posted separate links for the NHC's Final Reports on Helene and Milton in earlier posts to the Tropical Forum in StormTrack.
