My heart and sympathies go out to Sue-Ellen as well as everyone in Eric's family during this difficult time. He will be missed.

My condolences to the friends and family. I never met Eric but I have read many of his posts and will be trying some of his recipes in the near future.

Very sad news :(

I send my condolences to Eric's family during this tough time. I sure will miss talking with Eric through email.

I think deep down we all accepted this would happen, but when it actually does it still feels like a massive blow to the head/heart. In a way it puts my mind at ease that Eric can now chase the prairies in eternity, rather than come back to a life that (perhaps) would have never been the same again. I hope you see EVERY tornado Mother Nature has to offer, and maybe you can sneak your way in the creation process and send us chasers a few beauties this year ;) ! Regardless of my own beliefs, I know this has to be extremely hard on Sue-Ellen, the kids, the close friends, as well as everyone else who Eric has touched with wisdom, compassion, or just saying Hi. Eric PM'd me just about any chance he got to, to leave a nice comment about a chase or sending "kudos" for starting a great thread. It's not often someone does that in StormTrack, let alone anywhere else. You will be missed Eric and you did not deserve to be stricken with this. RIP - my prayers are with the family and friends, hang in there, you have a 2nd family right here to support you.

I just heard the news ... my heart is heavy. Been praying for Eric and his family, was hoping for a different result. Please convey my deepest condolences to Sue Ellen and Eric's family and friends. He will be missed. :(

While I have never met Eric in person, I fell terrible about hearing this news. It certainly saddens my day. RIP Eric and I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

FYI: FOLKS: IN THE JEWISH RELIGION WE HAVE A MOURNING PERIOD CALLED "SHIVA". It is customary not to send flowers to the family but to instead, send a meal or some food for the family to eat...or to make a monetary donation where the family asks.

Shiva is a religious service that usally takes place at the family's house. It is open to friends and familt of any religion. It is the time to pay your respects to the family and to help them grieve.

If anyone is in the KCMO area (or where they live), I suggest that you consider stopping by (making a "Shiva Call") as we say. This is a great way to honor Eric and to support the family. Again...any religious background is welcome. While we have jewish prayers and say kind words, all friends and religions are welcome.
