CHASE PARTNER THREAD for 2008

Anybody around the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles, Give me a shout, I try to stay within 100 miles from Perryton..........I can always use the company.....

Hi I haven't posted a lot but I am really interested in finding a chase partner in Central Indiana. I am going try to go out to the plains May 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I don't know if this season will put on show for those days but with a couple days notice on a upcoming event, I can probably get that changed. I also like to chase locally. I haven't got a great budget right now unfortunately. Any ways would like to hear from any one in Indiana or Illinois that might wanna partner up to save some gas and for longer chases hotel rates. Any way, if interested send me a private message. And maybe we can work something out.

Thanks Cody Pryor

OK time for me to chime in
I go to school at OU so I am based in Norman. Now you may say, why am I posting in this thread when I live amongst many many chasers in Norman. Well that may be so but it really comes down to who you know and if you catch people at the right time which doesnt always happen with me.
I am an experienced chaser with 4 years of experience. I have caught 3 tornadoes, sorry I dont have personal video but I do have pics I can post via PM.
Anyways I am looking for a partner in the central OK area that HAS experience and preferably radar that would not mind me tagging along with them.

I'll throw my name on the list...

I work in emergency services in the Denver metro area and am planning on going back to school for Emergency Management. I have a 2006 Toyota SUV with plenty of room and good gas mileage. I have all the gadgets (WxWorx, GPS, ham radio, etc.)

PM if interested.

I haven't planned any trips beyond two to the plains in April and May. The one in April is baseball-related from the 17th to the 20th (base is Wichita) and the other one is in May for KSU graduations (May 15-18, base is in between Manhattan and Kansas City). I am also thinking of planning a trip to Denver for May 23-25 (originally to watch the Colorado Rockies, but I won't buy the tickets until I need to). This should leave me open for a separate period or two for a weekend chase (in addition to the three periods above), unlike last year (planned a mid-May vacation for graduations and a wedding) which I sat out the May 4-5 event.

Unfortunately, short-notice trips between Phoenix and Denver have gone up $100-$200 from last year, but this puts more cities as options to fly to (Albuquerque, Amarillo, OKC, Wichita, Lubbock, Dallas, and KC). I will PM people in this thread and whoever PMs me depending on where I head. It has to be a moderate (or high) risk with agreement of convective mode for me to fly. Driving to a TX panhandle spot on a Saturday is also attainable, so I can meet that way if I choose to drive that far.

Also, I can nowcast on weekends (and some nights, but I plan on using my Diamondback season tickets as much as possible) I don't fly out to an area (which I did on May 5 last year). I only use NWS radar online (and streaming video when provided), but I am good at picking rotation in storms with only that information (using velocity and reflectivity scans), as I used to study radar images during my time in Kansas. That's also the best asset I can bring as a chase partner.

I will be in the States from May 12th to May 26th to storm chase, and I am looking for a chase partner(s) to share expenses. PM me for chase history and personality test.

I will be looking for a chase partner this year probably. I prefer someone that is relatively nearby (within say 100 miles or so) of Kirksville or Lancaster, MO, however, can go beyond that if needed. I have been chasing locally since '05 and surrounding states since '06. I have most all the gadgets needed. (radar, etc.) I don't really care if you are a newbie, just wanting to share expenses. I do have a small car (ZX2) which gets good mileage, but again, it is small, so must be able to be in a semi-cramped space for long periods. If interested, shoot me a pm and we can discuss further.

Fremont Indiana here,
Looking to chase in the Great Lakes Region this year, May Make a trip to Iowa, or Missouri once or twice but not much farther than that.
The setup that I have makes it so that I do not stop at motels at night, and I can only take one other person with me at a time.

All that I ask is that you help with Gas and Food as I do not have much cash saved up for this year (Spent it all on getting the van fixed)

I will also throw my name out...

I am most likely going to be looking also for a chase partner this year. I'm located in Gardner, Kansas which is in the southwest portion of the Kansas City Metropolitan area. Meeting points will be discussed in PMs. This will be my sixth season chasing. I drive a 2005 Nissan Xterra 4WD and I have almost any gagdet for the chases (Laptop with Sprint data service, GPS, Ham Radio, etc. etc...). Newbie (At least have some knowledge about meteorology) or experienced, it does not really matter, so as long as gas expenses are shared. I have XM satellite radio in the car and am up to about any kind of music except for country and hip-hop. PM me if interested or need more information.

Denver based chasers:

I'm probably going to be chasing with a bunch of Metro State students (they're all first-timers for the most part and I've only chased for a couple of years) ... I'm not flush with equipment, but will try to go out as much as possible. So, if you're looking to jump in and ride along, PM me. We have a couple drivers you'll just have to pay for your own food and your own share of fuel.

We plan to meet at park-and-rides near downtown ...

I'll go ahead and submit myself as a potential chase partner. Lets see I'm 19. I live in Lexington, Kentucky. I will travel pretty far mainly when a high risk is eminent. I am a Ham Operator, have Threat Net, GPS, Iphone (sometimes helps), I have a scanner digital!, weather radio, xm radio (don't really care what we listen to).

I can drive and we can take my car doesn't really matter. Its a Corolla and I chase in it because of the cheaper gas. I can split gas, and would expect the same if we take my car.

College student so my dates are flexible pretty much anytime storms warrant anywhere within 1000 miles I would say. Just message me if anyone is interested.

Hello. I am a chaser with 3 years experience located in Lawton Ok looking for a partner or partners for one to two weeks for mid May. PM me if interested.

I'll be coming from Hawaii to chase during the last 3 wks. of May. I'm looking to team up w/ an experienced chaser w/ data & forecasting skills. I'm flexible about where you'd like to meet up.

I'll go ahead and throw my name into the ring.
Attention Colorado chasers or any chaser who wants to fly into Denver and chase with a local:
I'm an 18 year old college student and Colorado native. I currently reside about 100 miles northeast of the Denver metro area, but I will be moving up to Denver in June, as I start school there in July. I have 11 years of amateur forecasting under my belt and this will be my 3rd chase season. I know all of eastern Colorado like the back of my hand and am pretty familiar with western NE and northwest KS. My ride is a 1998 Subaru Forester S, which gets about 27 mpg highway and has a 330-350 mile range, has AWD (which means we can hit all but the sloppiest dirt roads without worry) and is relatively roomy for a smaller SUV. I can take 4 people comfortably and 5 in a pinch. I've got a laptop with a Verizon aircard & GRL3 and will be purchasing a Cascade Rockies wi-fi amplifier in the next week or so, so data will be no issue. Gas costs and motel costs (if overnight chasing) would be split evenly, food would be on your dime. Experience level doesn't matter to me, I've gotten pretty good at chase forecasting over the last few years but I'm no expert, I still have room for improvement. Just be somewhat knowledgeable about meteorology, or if you aren't please have a hunger to learn and the ability to catch on quickly, and it'll be all good. My primary chase territory is between I-94 and I-20 north/south and I-25 and I-35 west/east. If an exceptional situation presents itself, I am willing to chase outside this area, as long as it doesn't involve a lot of jungle chasing. My schedule is fairly flexibile.
If interested, just shoot me a PM or call me on my cell at 970-768-7989 whenever and we'll work something out.
Warmest regards,
Mark

I have room for 1-2 chasers

I have room to take 1-2 chasers from mid April to May 3rd -- the rest of May & all of June I'm totally full since my girlfriend and other chasers are going out w/ me this year. I'm a full-time, professional tornado chaser -- I own a film company that sells my severe weather footage all year round.

I have all the equipment so if you want to ride along and see a bunch of tornadoes you're welcome to -- I have a couple of XL-1's that I don't use anymore that you could use if you wanted but I'm sure that you have your own video cameras. Historically, I do quite well the last 2 weeks of April and so far 2008 is looking awesome.

If interested, email or PM me but please only serious inquiries because I've been so busy filming all the severe winter weather the last 3 weeks around the country that I really don't have time to reply to prank inquiries.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
