As Gene Moore wisely (jokingly) told us on April 18, 2006..."I like to be where there are clouds" So I'll head up towards Fargo, ND. And keep an eye on these "clouds" to my northwest. Looks like the Twin Cities target is lighting up!!! Good luck to Scott, Dean and all who are there...

No, I posted an note at the beginning of #14 to alert everyone that Dann was going live on his. Sorry if that confused some of you. . .

I just read it wrong, if I had actually been thinking about what I was reading I would've figured it out sooner.;) Oh well, I should still be able to get in to good position for this case with the event being pretty much in my backyard.

Unfortunately with CI just west of the Cities, it'll be a chase into a horrible metro to drive through. I fear driving through the Cities almost as much as Chicago.

Well, I am in Fargo, and am heading N. on I-29. I am in position to hit anything between Fargo and Grand Forks. Nice bulge in the warm front to my due west, and I am hoping cells will fire along the boundary. Quite a variation in SFC temps along the boundary. This is just going to have to do. Good luck to those near the Minneapple, I am wishing I had stayed put in that area, however I still feel I have better directional shear up in E N Dakota. I will catch something, whether it is daylight or dark.

I second that, but if you want to caravan it I know the cities pretty well, we should be able to stick with the storm.

Given the current position of the developing storm, if it can move due east or ESE it'll just clip the southern edge of the metro. Regardless, looks like the 494 bypass will be the perfect route around the south to the west side.

Hmm, potential metro chase. What to do, what to do... Everything is telling me to move SE from St. Cloud but I really, really don't want to chase through a metropolitan, let alone one I'm not at all familiar with (did that once in KC and that was in an area I knew very well.) I'm going to cautiously start heading SE on I-94 but if anything initiates NW of there, I'll take the northern target....overall, I should still be in good position.

Moving up I-35 to 494 heading west to Eden Prairie where 494 curves north. Looks like I'll exit onto Flying Cloud Dr. and decide whether I want to go west or north or sit still.

Chase on! developing storm off the OFB in what looks like McLeod county, a 10-15 mile drive north and I should be able to intercept the southern part of the storm. Scott, ready to meet up?

Better decide quick, roughly an hour to get in front of the storm from St. Cloud with just over an hour of daylight left! ;)

2330z: I've made it to about Mapes, ND. The cell to my wsw is not looking so hot, and convergence is not impressive up here. I'll move on west to Lakota, ND, and get another update before deciding: n/w/s/e Hopefully lack of sfc winds and convergence doesn't do me in.

Well, still heading north on I-29. Currently in Hillsboro ND. going north bound. I noticed on radar some returns coming back from my west and southwest. I am going to continue to head towards Grand Forks, unless these returns explode. If things heat up, I will pull off the interstate, and assess the situation.
