• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

We have four positions for appointed moderators* which are open. Selection is not by poll or popular vote. You may either reply here or e-mail me at [email protected] if you are interested. Requirements are either professional/academic/research meteorology background, appreciable storm chase experience, or a 1+ year participatory history on Stormtrack. If you think I don't know you well, please include a very short summary of your background that I can consider. Thanks!

For those who didn't monitor the elections last month, the moderator position basically puts you in the leadership ranks of Stormtrack and gives you a chance to help with the flow of discussion on the forum and some say in how the board is operated. It is a 6-month post.

We may only fill a couple of positions now and a couple of more over the next month or so; it depends on the response.

Tim

* = all moderator positions will be renamed Staff Member as of next week

I wish I could help out, but I don't meet your requirements. However, if you need some one to just watch for spam, I would be willing to be a spam buster :) But, then again we don't see much spam here do we, besides the stuff in the can :)

Well, I'm an Admin/Mod on the World Wide Radio Forum (www.worldwidedx.com) and have done that for over year now. WWDX uses vBulletin software as well. Just so long as I am in the capacity of a spam buster and rule keeper, I can do that for a while. I am on the computer almost 14 hours a day. I don't see a spam problem on this site. I am certainly not a Met. Some people seem to think that a Mod needs to be the ultra-chaser or ultra-Ham; but that is not the case as we both already know. It might help, but isn't a requisite for the position. Sure, I can give it a bash if you need the help.
