5/12/10 NOW: OK/KS/IA

Cannot believe there's not a TOR warning on that cell near Texola / Sweetwater, OK !!!
Very nice velocity couplet per FDR radar.

TOR Warning finally out for the Texola, OK storm. Rotating wall cloud reported by spotters per NWS statement. Looks like a great cell to be on!

These are the FUN ones to be on... over wide open, flat areas and much more rural in population density! Have fun, but be safe.

Edit @ 5:55 CDT - per FDR radar, velocity couplet has increased quite a bit with this last scan.... it could produce at any time! The little town of Mayfield, OK looks to be right in the path!

Coming upon Chester, and gonna book it down highway 183 south from Seiling to try to get on that tornado warned storm heading NE. Looks like my intial storms over Woodward and Arnette are crapping out.

Storm near Sweetwater, OK is 'pulsing,' now down just a bit. My bet is on the 'tail-end-charlie' storm near Wellington, TX. Radar signatures appear to be showing three distinct supercells now... the Sweetwater, OK storm; the Wellington, TX storm; and another firing north of Childress, TX.

I'd presume these are the three potential plays of the evening !?!?!
Although I would like to see these make a jog east versus their current NNE trending.

The supercell in Beckham county Oklahoma doesn't appear to have an organzied low level meso as the velocity signature is not impressive at all. It also appears this storm may be getting seeded by the storm on its heels.

Its sad when I am already almost back to Tulsa at 6pm after chasing in northwest Oklahoma, and I am already looking at long range model data in search of the next potential setup.

I've been playing in the Kingman / Reno / Sedgwick County area of KS with these cells. Got some really nice rotation, decent sized hail and some pretty intense lightning. Everything fired a bit earlier than I thought it would and has crapped out earlier than I thought too!

I think everything now will struggle to get itself sorted unless you go right down into TX for the tail end Charlie as its all being interfered with by the outflow from the line of storms to the south. I'm not super experienced with all this so can any give me their thoughts as to if you think it will reignite anywhere later?

The supercell south of the tornado warned cell in western Oklahoma looks to be taking over. I wouldn't be surprised to see a tornado warning on it soon....until the storm to its south takes over.

My girlfriend, Jenna Blum, and I witnessed at least two tornadoes this afternoon in central KS. The first was under a very low base northwest of Moundridge and had a stovepipe shape before becoming very dusty. We're not sure how long that was on the ground because the dirt it was kicking up obscured our view. We then proceeded east then north to position ahead of the storm and intercepted the base again just south of Canton. We stopped to watch and film some dust that was being kicked up under the rapidly rotating base, which I believe was the RFD blast. As I was filming that, just to the north, the second tornado touched down. It was dusty and never had a full condensation funnel but was undoubtedly a tornado. That one was on the ground for about a minute.

Getting ready to core storm just south of Topeka. FYI, according to signs just outside of Topeka, the 70 EB is still closed through the city.

It appears via KFDR that tail end charlie is getting its act together north of Vinson. TWC has been for the last few minutes live with Bettes/Forbes and V2 on that storm (I think) and showed at least one large funnel.

A tornado touched down just west of Towanda, KS at 8:11 . Three Semis overturned 2 W EL Dorado with two injuries. Powerlines on top of the Semis on the Kansas Turnpike. That was most likely Wind Damage.

That Storm developed somewhat of a hook right around the tornado developed. I missed a tornado 20 miles from my house. Thats epic fail.

Hans Schroeder and I are in Weatherford shooting east on 40. Had a Funnel 4 S of Clinton on 183; unsure of contact with ground.
