Hi man, I'm watching the model, for middle afternoon and evening its not bad the setup for the Greensburg area, ondulation at 500 hpa and good vorticity at 700 hpa with a little closed low in extreme west KS. LLJ could be good after 3-4 pm.

We are driving from Wichita to Grensburg... what do you think?

Looks like you are in a good spot Niccolo. A nice cu field is developing over Kiowa County (Greensburg). Moisture is really low keeping LCLs well into the 2000+ range but CAPE values are 2500 j/kg over SC KS/NW Ok with the cap beginning to break in SC Kansas down into Oklahoma. I would expect a few high based hailers but not much more.

Looks like you are in luck. I see storm initiation on the VIS SAT in South Central Kansas moving N-NE. there's also a line of storms moving thru Eastern Colorado in a E-SE direction. Either way you will have plenty of storm options. Good Luck and Good Storm Chasing!! LJK.

04/22/09 NOW CO/KS

Looks like storms are firing up in Eastern Colorado, heading E-SE and convections are going up in South Central Kansas, moving in N-NE. One of our foreign storm chasers, Niccolò Ubalducci, is in the Greensburg area in Kansas. Thought I would start a NOW thread for this area. Good luck in your storm chasing!! LJK.

The cell northwest of Pratt has some dry microburst potential the next few minutes. After that, play outflow boundaries for possible sequential microbursts.
