Theres something popping up SW of OKC on vis. Looks like the upper lvl support coming out of Tx is what is helping this cell break the cap. In ICT an a aggitated cu field has developed. Went from almost perfectly clear skies to nice cu field in the last 20 min. Noticed cells popping up on radar in SE Chase Co in KS and NW Garvin Co in OK. We just might see some nocturnal activity after all.

Interesting line of cu south of OUN. Looks to be very high based, beginning to develop anvils. A couple little returns on radar in northern Garvin County.

I can't see below it for trees, but the tower's right out my front door and it looks awesome....where was this two hours ago?

Lol Shane...it wasn't...popped up about 20 minutes ago. And it's just been severe warned and it's moving slowly to the NE. We just have to sit still.

:eek:whats up with the svr warn for Mcclain and Garvin Co in OK. unless this thing really started dumping im not seeing anything really sig on radar. Explosive developing sup? Trigger happy NWS? Moving NE at 15 mph up to quarter sized hail... hmm.

NWS statement:
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH NO ADVANCE WARNING.
MOVE IMMEDIATELY TO A STORM SHELTER... BASEMENT OR STURDY BUILDING IF
A TORNADO IS SIGHTED.
So i take it NWS thinks this is going to be the show.

Wow, watching that Cell South of OKC on radar it went up to near 50K ft in one scan, only to be suppressed back to 20K on the next scan, no doubt the cap is causing it to struggle, but with the instability present it could ERUPT real quick as slight mid level cooling is working E per RUC Meso analysis. Radar now show DL retreating back to the West.

EDIT: It has erupted, radar already presenting nice super cell structure!!!! EHI's of 8.... could get interesting!

if I didn't have my busted tail-light (thanks to whoever hit-and-ran my car that night) I'd probably go after it....but quarter hail ain't worth another ticket.

EDIT: To hellwith it, I'm out the door...

somethings up with the radar... i happened to switch to Vance and that storm lit up.

edit: they just fixed it

Am I the only one wondering why KTLX radar is in VCP 32 with a severe thunderstorm going on nearby...not used to seeing that.

edit: ditto what Brian said about them switching to VCP11 right after we posted. It was just odd seeing KTLX still in clear-air mode when the warning was issued. The reflectivity color curve is always very deceptive when watching storms in VCP 31/32.

WOW ok latest frame loaded... LOL Explosive developing Sup LOL:eek: and man this baby looks great on radar. Already seeing small rotation at mid lvls. Yipee.. time to bring up the live feed out of OKC!!!

Jordan, the KTLX radar was (is?) going in and out of clear air mode to precip mode. Maybe that's what you're seeing?
