• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I've been watching a long-lived supercell that has tracked along I-20 from Shreveport (where I think it's the same cell that caused damage there, but can't be certain from my GRL3 loop). It has been TOR-warned through a minimum of five counties so far, and is on a nearly due-east heading that will take it north of Jackson if it holds together. 1:31am velocity on the 0.5 tilt shows a 105-knot couplet. Damage has been reported in Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Lincoln and Ouachita parishes.

This cell has been tail-end Charlie for a while, and will run into slightly backed surface winds in the DGX region.

As I type this, TOR Watch # 130 has gone up for counties immediately south and west of Huntsville...

I probably should have started a new now thread instead of posting in yesterdays since it was after midnight :/. Oh well.

You are correct, that is the same exact storm that did damage in Shreveport. I just can't stop watching it keep on keeping on and am amazed by its longevity. It seems to be just out front/along of a weak surface vort max. What was a more stable air mass over MS is beginning to rapidly destabilize with decreasing LI's, decreasing LCL's, CAPE increasing and dewpoints although not as high as they were in LA are increasing into low 60s. I now don't see anything slowing this storm down for at least another hour or two...

A line appears to be gradually filling in from the north, with additional development to the south. Will be interesting to see how the lone cell reacts to this...

If I'm figuring correctly, the first damage reports from this cell are straight line winds in Harrison County, TX at 0240Z. That means that the storm has been ongoing for at least five hours. Latest radar view shows it starting to stringbean out, so it may be fading--or just cycling.

EDIT: After such a long history of independence, this cell is finally losing its rudder and is beginning to track more to the northeast. ATTM it looks like the forming line is going to outrun it, so it may wither up--looks like it will be nothing but a puddle-maker by the time it crosses I-55.

A most impressive cell--it should precipitate some earnest papers and reports.

Now it's time for sleep before the first round gets here--but I just heard thunder...

Very impressive shear profiles off the forecast soundings for this afternoon and also going off the 12Z observed sounding data from this morning, especially in northern AL into northern GA. Quite the day we're talking about here.

WKRN out of Nashville is showing a traffic cam footage of large tornado on the ground in Mufreesboro, literally about 3 minutes ago. Crossed I-24.

Nearly every storm in TN is going tornado warned now. The cells near Murfreesboro and south of Lewisburg are looking very impressive with couplets at this time.

I hope the radar is wrong, but it looks like the Lewisburg couplet went right over town. Almost every storm seems to be rotating.

EDIT - Rutherford County is where houses were reported destroyed, according to WKRN.

The cell in Itawamba Co., MS is rapidly developing a nasty looking hook and will be crossing into Franklin Co., AL shortly, with the circulation passing near Russelville in the next half hour or so.

Also, the cell in central Colbert/southern Lauderdale Co. AL is also developing a strong couplet and will be affecting the Muscle Shoals/Florence vicinity shortly.

I am really kicking myself for sitting this one out today. I just took a look at the radar and warnings the whole line of storms is tornado warned from north TN, south to MS and Soon AL borders with no breaks in warning coverage. The cell south of Crofton KY has had tornadoes being reported on the ground.

I am noting that the time of post was 2:04 PM EDT. The time stamp shown on the post is 11:54 am. looks like a glitch and may fix itself but found it odd

The Murfreesboro cell is completely hooked out - GR3 currently showing 115 kts of g2g shear. I'm betting the tornado that struck Murfreesboro is still on the ground, chewing up the Tennessee countryside...
