A large, violent tornado has crossed I-35 near mile marker 33 and has just moved through the northwestern portions of Ardmore, OK.... from the Norman WFO warning:

* AT 738 PM CST...A LARGE... VIOLENT TORNADO WAS LOCATED IN THE
NORTHWEST PARTS OF ARDMORE...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH.

The Ardmore Municipal Airport and the town of Gene Autry, OK are directly in the path of this large and dangerous tornado!

My prayers go out to the people being affected by this monster :(

TOR warning now for Crawford Co. KS as a cell just northeast of Parsons is showing rotation. I'm just south and east of there not chasing this mess.

Cooke Co. storm is fattening and developing a notch. This could potentially be another horse in this dread race, as well.

Yes, but given the extreme shear and insane helicity values across the region, even once this forms a line a substantial tornado threat will persit through the night across SE OK and NE TX. Besides the threat for tornadoes there will likely be some widespread wind damage.

A learning experience for me tonight, indeed. This appeared to be squalltrash when it was lined up by SPS, but now some areas seem to be popcorning and the Red River portion looks like it is transforming into a chorus line of HPish monsters. I doubt the line's "swallowing" of the Ardmore storm did anything more than simply link it arm-to-arm with the line.

EDIT: Still keeping my eye on the Erath/Hood Co. horse; the SRV profiles seem to indicate mad rotation at some level on them. I haven't inspected the Mesoanalysis page since five, so I don't know what the atmospheric dynamics are down south of the Metroplex, but if they're not far off from the dynamics at the Red River to the north, I'm shocked there hasn't been a TOR on this one yet.

The squall line appears to have broken up into a line of increasingly scattered, ever intensifying HP monsters stretching from northeast of Ardmore to southwest of Fort Worth. It looks like southeast Oklahoma and northern/northeastern Texas are going to be in for a very, very rough night...

EDIT: Extensive damage and injuries reported in Lone Grove and northwest Ardmore. The tornado is apparently still on the ground, extensive power flashes/damage reported near Drake and Nebo. The storm is now bearing down on the town of Mill Creek, OK.

Guys this is nuts. The original meso occluded while another one developed just to its se. There have been more than one large-violent tornadoes with this storm. Rotation has decreased maybe this thing is finally done, or just redeveloping another meso.

WOW Storm just south in Texas is a monster as well good grief. Well we all new this was a possibilty tonight.

Unconfirmed reports of fatalities in Lone Grove. People trapped in their homes... :(

Just guessing from looking at Level 3, this mesocyclone isn't quite done. Just a hypothesis, but I get the feeling that what's happening is that the gust front of the squall line is acting as the RFD of the storm. Also, the area that the previous meso was just in is entering the SPC's mesoanalysis area of insane helicity values. Not quite sure what that's gonna do, but whatever it is, it can't be good.

Micheal Ratliff just called me and reported he saw very close a very large, long tracked tornado near Lone Grove west of Ardmore. He said it appeared to have a damage path could be as large as mile wide.

Another amazing year

Wow, February 10th and we already have long running tornadic activity. Looks like another good/bad year..

A good part of the storms south of the Red River are flattening out on the reflectivity scans, and there's now half a dozen TVS signatures between Denton and Decatur along the leading edge which in my experience means shelfo city. Consistent Tops heights now reign the line up to the northern Cooke Co storm. Looks like the cold front might have arrived, and may be toppling over any semiseparate cells like dominos from the south portion (where it's getting pretty thin widthwise now) on up. The devastating OK cell appears to be wandering out of the best instability axis now, which hopefully will kill it off soon, but with this shear, who knows?

Not quite sure at all as to what's up with the Hamilton TOR way down there. I can't get any reading out of it, but I might be missing something. (?).

Chief of police reporting Trailer parks flattend, several injured, several trapped in cars and homes, numerous Gas leaks. Chief seemed pretty fired up, not sure if he just isn't very calm tempered guy, or if it really is THAT bad...

Now a PDS likely

Meso Disc. 91 says in part:

TORNADO WATCHES 9 AND 10 WILL BY REPLACED BY ANOTHER TORNADO WATCH AROUND 03Z THAT WILL INCLUDE NE TX...ERN OK THROUGH WRN AND CNTRL AR. A PDS WATCH WILL LIKELY BE NEEDED GIVEN FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR STRONG TORNADOES

So conditions to continue for some time according to SPC.

Is this the first of the year (PDS that is)? I know it is the first for today.
