Tornado watch out for the region.

At 1:45pm POE 88-D indicates hooks moving toward Winnfield, LA (with tornado warning) and a second crossing the Sabine River NW of Leesville, LA

very strong couplet passing just north of montgomery, la. has to be a tornado with that!! showing over 130 kts gtg shear!

Nasty-looking thing! Now passing through Winnfield, and while it appears to have weakened as precip closes in around it, I surely wouldn't write it off yet.

Next big storm to the southwest is showing rotation over Bellwood.

UPDATE: That storm is now tornado-warned.

Tornado warnings going up over W MS right now... looks to be mainly linear with embedded supercells... but there is a decent couplet near Valley Park, MS... worried because these are near Yazoo City, MS.

Geeze! Yazoo City just got hit again.

From the tornado warning issued a few minutes ago at 8:18 CST:

AT 816 PM CST...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED DAMAGE FROM A TORNADO
JUST PASSING THROUGH THE CITY. THIS TORNADO WAS LOCATED 6 MILES
SOUTH OF EDEN MOVING NORTHEAST AT 50 MPH.

I took a radar grab from the cell as it approached Yazoo City about 20 minutes ago (see attached), as it contained a rather stalwart couplet. The cells are moving off to the ENE, with strong indication in that cell in far Southwest Yazoo County heading towards Bentonia.

The cell moving into Hinds County appears pretty stout (see image), with its own unimpeded environment to work with as it aims to trek just NW of Jackson. It has a nice couplet and surface inflow winds remain favorable to help sustain low-level rotation. Regarding the upstream environment, recent 00z soundings from BMX and JAN show a very favorable environment for the maintenance of supercells, with ambient ML CAPE and 0-6 km shear (check out the AGL wind barbs and hodos too).
