thunderstorms are begging to fire in north MS ahead of the cold front...

MLCAPEs are expected to climb up to 1000j/kg with TDs in the 62-65 degree range...FRZ levels are down to 3750M with 0-6KM deep layer shear from 30-40KTS...

LFCs are also starting to come down in N MS, so it looks like it wont be too long before storms start to form...

the storm motion for today is NNE...

there is a pair of cells in benton and tippah counties that have been out there for a while...with 50+ 0-3KM CAPE in that area, it would be nice to see them get surface based...

its still early in the day...im thinking that things might start to get interesting after 1 or 2PM...

ill be watching em...

I've got a wishful eye open here in north AL, but I don't think much will happen here before dark, and I have to be at work at 5:30p anyway. Still, it's nice to see a SLT on the map and to feel some low 60s tds out there.

there are several choice cells out here right now...

0-1 KM helicity is really starting to pick up here in north, MS with values ranging from 150-250 ms/2s and the storms are starting to show it...

the best cells out there are near holly springs, corinth and new albany...

cant wait to see em!

Sharp axis of the cold front seems to have just passed Tunica, Ms where NNW winds are being reported and gusting to 44 mph. The front seems to be sharpening up just a bit with a more organized line developing ahead of it. Decent shear with declining CAPE may yield for some wind and small hail with organized storms. The rain will be more welcomed than anything.

The SVR warned cell over Elkton seems like it is trying to pull itself together, there has been a hook in recent reflectivity scans and I noticed velocity scans are becoming just a tad bit better, if I were to put money on a storm in the bunch, that would be it.

there is a phenomenal light show going on in lee county right now...just got back from watching the storms at the hwy 78/45 interchange...

im in auburn right now and its just starting to thunder!!!

hell yeah!

Should be looking for storms that are deviating a little from the regular vectors? I am not sure though its a tad off east. So right moving would be south east I think, I did not crunch any numbers. A cell that could get that done would have more of a chance.

What are the storm motions? Where is Elkton?
