SPC has issued a Tornado Watch for the Southern Plains and Big Country areas in TX. Thought I would open a NOW thread for TX.

A few discrete cells have popped up in a E-SE line from Lubbock, TX. One cell located between Post and Rule TX has the following parms according to wunderground.com:

C0 63 dBZ 46,000 ft. 73 kg/m² 90% chance 100% chance 2.50 in. 8 knots N (359)

Folks thats baseball sized hail (2.50 inch)!!

EDIT: Originally, this thread was started for TX, OK, KS & MO. Later it was expanded to IL & IN. I was gone when the SWWs were expanded to OH. thanks for the changes, MODS!! :D

TCU exploded E/SE of Wichita. Large anvil, but it's a little soft around the edges -- not sure if it will grow much more. There are also several TCUs popping in a N-S line.

Edit: It's a solid-line now.

We ran up on a few baseball sized hailstones near Clairemont, TX in Kent Co. about 3:20ish. Trying to decide which cell to go after, the one in Garza Co. looks to be behind the outflow from the Kent Co. storm.

Storm in Adams Co., IL (east of Quincy) appears to be rotating. Also has a wee little hook.

EDIT: Just after I finished typing this, it went TOR warned.

Just noting that the storms in ohio have gone from nice little isolated severes to a few tor wanrings as the boundaries start interacting and the instability has improved..

Nice storm south of columbus, and near dayton.

Why are ya'll posting in the TX, KS thread for IL and OH??

because storms DO happen outside of the "alley" and the thread wasnt titled to accomodate that...unless we want seperate threads for each state.

Im not surprised to see these storms going nuts given the boundaries that were left behind from yesterdays event. That cell near champaign was looking really good. I only have NWS radar to go by here though.

The storm between Sweetwater and Abilene is a beast. Massive walls of dust being by blown outflow across I-20 bringing visibilities to near zero.
