Mike's pics do not only capture the classic RFD feature associated with supercell tornado genesis, but also provide an excellent visual example of
Dr. Erik Rasmussin's "Blob" phonemon. In the later M.U. pic from his link below, notice the opposing cyclonic (tornado) and anticyclonic (funnel) circulations. The "Blob" would have descended in the vicinity of the latter feature just prior to the genesis of the tornado.

I don't like the \"waterspout\" labelling, that's just the meteorologist in me... but this is obviously a supercell tornado, very weak albeit, but an obvious different process from a waterspout off the Floriday Keys, for instance. Just a supercell tornado over water, that's all ;-)
