The sad thing is I already have to scroll down to see the ever growing sections this board already has.

Get a bigger monitor, lol

LOL! I knew some smart axx would say just that when I wrote that. Ding Ding you are the winner Mr. Dewey. And your prize? Absolutely nothing! Couldn't you have pulled a better comeback out of that head of yours?

So Jim, I am an elitist just because my view on the subject is different then that of your own? If you don't like to get feedback from others, well I would suggest not creating another poll because you will get my opinion whether you like it or not.

I know many of you disagree with me and that is fine but I stand by my opinion that this board needs no photography section. That being said, I will leave it as is and forget about it.

Nope it was just the way you stated it like you were the final answer. I don't care if your view differs from mine, that is fine. The world would be boring as hell if we all had the same views.. :D

You posts just baffle me because they seem to be so angrily against a photography section.

If I post another poll your opinions are still welcome..... ;)

Oye.

I see this is devolving quickly. :( I'll say it again. For me, ST is a community. During the offseason, I still like to participate in this community. That means - for me - my participation is photography-based. We're just discussing consolidation here, that's all. Just consolidate the photography threads that already exist. What is the big deal?

Just my $.02...

I don't know... seems to be an issue that hasn't been addressed, John Wetter brought up some interesting questions that have yet to be answered. As I interpreted, some folks are petitioning for an open photography section for discussing and posting ALL photos, be it weather related or not. Similar to a couple of the threads already seen in equipment section with pictures of cars, insects and the like. I think EVERYBODY is way ahead of the game, given nothing from the Higher ups of the forum. Before it can really even fairly be discussed I think there needs to be some solid platform indicating the proposed changes or additions.
Dustin, I posted a very specific platform for the section all the way back on page 4 of this thread.

Obviously, you didn't read it.

It is as follows:

Here's my pitch for this section:

Given that so many of us photograph not only weather, but all sorts of other atmospheric phenomena, I believe that an appropriate name for this section would be Weather and Atmospheric Photography.

Threads in this section would obviously be limited to discussions relevant to photographing weather and atmospheric phenomena and photographs of said phenomena - this would NOT be a 'general' photography section that some have alluded to in previous posts.

I see the Weather and Atmospheric Photography section serving these purposes:

a)To provide a place where techniques for photographing all different types of weather/atmospheric phenomena could be discussed.

b) To give members a venue in which to show off illustrative examples of these techniques.

c)To establish permanent FAQ's on hot topics such as HDR, lightning, low light shooting, etc.

d)To condense the majority of the photographic related threads into one place and de-clutter other sections, such as B&G and Equipment, thereby increasing the quality and relevancy of the posts in other sections
.
And I forgot, there were two more things I left off that list:

e) For the discussion of the latest in photographic technology (cameras, lenses, photo software etc) and their practical applications in weather/atmospheric photography.

f) For members of the Stormtrack community to give and get honest, helpful feedback on one another's weather/atmospheric photography.

You're biggest concern is that the section would devolve into an 'anything goes' photography section.

As part of my plan for the section, in order to keep the Weather and Atmospheric Photography section high quality and focused, any threads with photos pertaining to anything other than weather/atmospheric photography would have to be posted in the B&G section.

So there you go - one very specific, detailed outline for what this section would be if the moderators approved its creation.

I hope than answers any and all questions you have.

I had... something else written here, but decided to change it since I don't want to fan a flame.

With that said I guess it's a good thing I can just scroll past your posts without much in the way of pain. :D;)

It's a shame others can't learn to do the same, even when they're not being attacked.

I had posted earlier telling Mickey and Robert to cut the snide potshots, but never mind. Robert changed his post, and I think Mickey has said his peace and is done here.

We now return to the program already in progress...

I read it, I was implying in order for it to be discussed, a platform should be presented from somebody who has some say in the what goes on in the forum. With out any backing or in put from those in charge, the whole idea, and the several pages now discussing it, are pretty pointless...

Originally my question was pointed at the board moderators / owner but the negativity made me think maybe I was out of line thinking it would be a good idea and so I created a poll out of curiosity. :)

I for one would love to see a Photography sub-category off equipment. We all know there are some world-class photographers on ST and for everyone to learn off these guys would be really cool. Photography and videography in itself is such a large part of storm chasing... and having a specialised forum would generate more discussion as it would in seperate threads in the Equipment forum.

good idea yes need to add

Not sure what you mean by specialist but ....

I would the photos and videos would need to have more information including equipment and more information about the work . Might want to have a information that most should include with the stuff

What I am wondering about is whether we are all wasting our time if the "admin" already knows he will not have it or even consider doing it. We have seen nothing from him on this saying if it is even worth discussing.

I haven't read through this since pg. 2, but I was hoping someone could tell me if this thread has become like "Lurkers will be removed October 1st."

(Sorry, I don't know what is wrong with me. :D)

Edit: I forgot to say that I would like to add some Bob Ross photos, too. Can we have a section for Bob Ross photos because I love them.

(Seriously, I have no idea what is going on in this thread.)
