Wonder how many others have next week as their "Chase-Cation"?

I have a buddy flying into Denver on Sunday for a week of chasing with me! I moved from Indiana to Colorado last fall and we have been planning this week ever since! Looks like the jet moves everything NORTH and I doubt moisture will get that far north to fuel the storms!

I wonder how many others planned next week as their chase-cation? I bet its a bunch! Colorado site seeing anyone??? UGH

May 22 has historically been my lucky date, and mentally I reserve it for chasing. But this year doesn't look like it's gonna deliver. My pre-season exuberance has morphed into a wait-and-see attitude. Maybe late May and/or June will deliver the goods. If nothing else, I have yet to experience chasing in eastern Colorado.

I actually live north of Denver in Longmont. We've been getting thunder storms all week so far, and I wouldn't mind tagging along for a chase or two (though unfortunately I can't offer much for splitting fuel costs. :c )

I'm heading out the 17th. It doesn't look great, but maybe there will be some Caprock action. Heck, if I can get one striated LP storm I'll be happy.

I feel bad for people who planned a chasecation and will have a week of nothing. Not very often will you see almost all of april and may devoid of major storm activity. Usually about this time I am sitting here in Illinois watching all the action out in Kansas and Oklahoma on radar, waiting until my turn later at the end of May into June.

I hope to take a chasecation one day in the future. I hope I don't choose a year similar to this!

Wes, I head out around noon on the 17th as well. I will be out until June 2nd using Goodland as my home base. Randy is now with NWS-GLD, so I'll get to visit with him if the weather doesn't work out.

We're headed out this Sunday through Memorial Day and have to say I'm seeing some hope with moisture return and dryline action. I've been chasing the plains since 1981 while growing up in west Texas (now in NH). Spent many high school spring days chasing the dryline. Setup looks similar to some of those back in 80's. I think folks will be pleasantly surprised by the end half of next week. It doesn't take a major storm, just the right setup.

Technically my chasecation has now begun, but as I'm in Norman I have the luxury of sitting tight for the couple of truly dead days coming up rather than driving around in circles burning gas...but there is potential ahead. The 0z GFS, for instance, if taken verbatim would suggest possible chase days for me next week on...Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Outbreak day? Not a single one. But I'd be willing to bet that most if not all of these days will see at least a supercell or two somewhere...the trick is finding them.

Totally agree Jacob! I am thinking the same! Chaser convergence should be low :) I will leave monday morning most likely heading southeast from Monument, CO

I am heading out Thursday night and optimistic about chasing opportunities Friday through Monday (not bothering to look past that). As long as there is moisture and instability, it's a tinderbox and with the slightest "spark" anything can happen. It looks like there is a dryline forecast in the models for the end of next week. A big digging trough outbreak day is not necessary to have a good time. In fact, I would prefer not to have the kind of circus that ensues on such days.
