Where did you take your Avatar pic and when?

August 2nd, 2008 in Warner Robins, GA. A tremendous cluster of storms moved through the northern two thirds of the state, riding some sort of fast moving (north to south) boundary. The storms themselves were very slow moving. This one produced nearly 90 strokes per minute for over half an hour, and gave me 18 spectacular shots in less than an hour.

Witchita Falls, TX May 2009. It hopefully would have been of the tornado we were trying to get to, but our road network deteriorated. So instead I have a pic of the muddy truck with a dead bird stuck in the grill.

I had one I've been using for a few months, based off of the internet meme revolving around the zero-wing video game, that was buzzing around the internet in the early 2000's. Tonight, I was working on my Spotter Network training, and came across the warning sign of a tornado with someone running away in fright and I just cracked up laughing! So I had to save it, and use it as my new avatar.

Mammatus clouds shot from my back yard in Topeka, KS, some time in the early 2000's. The "main event" missed the city by about a mile to the east but didn't produce a tornado, to my recollection.

New one from tonight. Tragedy in a neighboring town as a firefighter and the homeowner he was attempting to rescue both died and another firefighter is in critical condition. My avatar now and for the foreseeable future will be in honor of our fallen brothers.

That's terrible news Danny. That firefighter is a true hero in my book! I'll definitely keep them in my thoughts.
