• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Western OK 4G

I would be highly surprised if they were able pull off half that coverage. Most of that 'future coverage' area they don't even have EDGE, and a lot of it they don't even have voice. Looks like an empty promise map to me.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but this might have something to do with the Alltel acquisition. I believe it may be a revamp of existing structure, not all new structure. Also, since AT&T gives an actual date (March 31), I doubt it's an empty promise. They open themselves up to false advertising claims, then.

The fine print in the ATT map says "Map depicts current and future 3G coverage. 4G coverage not depicted". I have ATT for my cellphone and a 3G Sprint datacard. I'm thinking about geting a Sprint 4G phone and dumping ATT and my home internet service.

Nah it says "expected to be available by 3/31". Can't sue for false advertisement when it's worded like that. Also, Alltel's existing network is CDMA, which is 100% incompatible with AT&T's GSM. They'll have to completely change out every site (not to mention hand out new phones to all the customers it acquired from Alltel) to make it compatible. Verizon is also CDMA (and already had roaming agreements in place with Alltel), so they never had these obstacles. And being as they only acquired 79 towers, that isn't nearly enough to be putting up that kind of additional coverage. But we'll see.

Yes, I know Alltel was CDMA, but AT&T is switching everything over to GSM and giving out new phones. This has already occurred in parts of the southeast.
