• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

VORTEX2

Vortex2 heading to Nebraska!!

Just got a "twitter" from vortex2nssl

Ops are down today but traveling north to NE.

Looks like the State of Nebraska will be overrun with storm chasers, researchers, yahoos and cows running wild...

Edit: My apologies to anybody that felt like this post didn't belong in the FCST thread. I was trying to give a "heads up" to the potential storm chasers that may come to NE/SD and run into this Vortex2 armada. We also need to be courteous and cooperative with this group. All of the Vortex2 members have been advised to do the same to other storm chasers/groups that they run into (not literally). Just work together with this group and you will be able to tell your grandchildren that you worked with the Vortex2 group that developed new radar technology. Just a heads-up. That's all!

I have been enjoying the live video stream from 12-2PM. A lot of small talk but some discussions about VORTEX and life on the road while chasing. Mike had a interesting question, how many of the original VORTEX participants are on VORTEX 2. He couldn't answer. Another person suggested that he try the 72oz steak at The Big Texan since they may head to Texas in sevasl days. Since I am currently stuck at home, the video stream is a fun way to pass a couple of hours.

Back to watching TWC video stream Friday at lunch. Mike is experiencing true storm chasing by wandering around the store by Carhenge buying T-shirts while the outside weather is cold and overcast.

"Long term forecast is not favorable for severe weather OR supercells, so we are grounding the V2 Media Vehicle until end of May."

Post from Vortex2 on Facebook...

I was going to my parents house in Pampa and saw Vortex2 headed down Hwy. 60 going into Amarillo to setup for today.

This seems like a good call to move south. At least there is slightly enhanced westerly flow in the southern stream. Work there for 2 or 3 days then back to Nebraska/SD next week.

TWC say`s they are in Fall River County, SD right now.
Mike said he`s in Texas...lol
Now I know why we didn`t get our tornado yesterday on our 500 mile trip to the Texas panhandle...lol
They jinxed our chase....rotflmao

Ryan McGinnis just texted. Vortex 2 deployed probes on the tornado earlier this hour and he says he got some "god pictures". He's good, but I don't think he's that good.
:)

Here is a video of the tornado that the Vortex2 team caught today...I happened to be watching this live on the Weather Channel at the time. Pretty nice tornado. Its especially cool when it tilts and you can actually see inside of the tornado (as its roping out)...
