There are many other mobile radars besides Wurman's Doppler On Wheels (DOW), which are the only radars officially called "DOWs", and collecting data on many different projects besides VORTEX2.
Anyway, an NSSL mobile radar is currently in the southwest states collecting polarimetric data on bats. Perhaps that is what you saw.
I believe CSWR is (or was) doing college/university/educational visits to schools around the US. I know they were recently in Illinois a month or two ago at Elmhurst College.
Josh Wurman will be presenting at the Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium in Lincoln, NE on April 9. VORTEX contributors Ryan McGinnis, Jim Reed, and Adam Houston will also be presenting during the day as well.
I wonder if there is, or has been any sort of effort to document their progress on film and present it online or on TV (projects in post production??). I would love to watch videos and such to see what the findings have been thus far without having to go to a seminar/conference.
I think Tim Marshall had some VORTEX videos on his 2009 season highlights. There will also be some VORTEX results presented on the upcoming Denver Storm Chaser Convention.
Yeah, Tim's 2009 DVD has several Vortex 2 chases on it. He also filmed most of the morning briefs and put them on the DVD, too, so you get a good idea of the setup each day and what the day's lead forecaster was thinking.
I imagine his presentation this year at Chasercon will be V2 related, since he spent most (all?) of his season with V2.
