Vortex 2 Radar Data

I'm getting some weird code from this. What format are these files?

I think they are animated GIFs. Note that some are also ~50+ MB, so your best bet may be to download / "save as", then open in something like Internet Explorer. The lack of a file extension confuses Firefox... If you can do that, you'll see DOW5/RapidDOW almost get hit by that tornado, which passes within ~200 m (from my eyeballed estimate) of the radar.

I can see only one image, opening it with quick time, but no animation...

Anyone could upload an mpeg or mov file with animation? This thing is too fine, guys, please, do it.;)

I didnt have a problem opening it just took a longtime to download..once it fully D.L you should see the animation..awesome images.

Yeah the server is extremely slow putting out data at 'dial up' speed so one has to be very patient..nevertheless the images are excellent.

Yeah I saw that they almost got hit from one of Joshs radar recalls. I guess the rapid dow. Who was leading that by the way. Was it Karen? Thankfully it was a barely on the ground with windspeeds below 45 m/s2 so therefor did really no damage to the rapid dow. I saw the image too what a close call! LOL!

By the way thank you Tim Marshall for putting this up!

Thank you both for posting this! I am currently working on a research project on June 9th, 09 storms. The data from that day really helps with it!

You might try giving one of the steering committe members a ring or an email - I'd guess they'd be quite happy to share even more data with you for your research, if it's a scientific research project.

Well, its nothing really formal. Just a study I am doing for a Synoptic 2 course. I am thinking about expanding it for my senior seminar next semester, however.
