• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Verizon drops 4G support for some LTE devices

I received a text message today that the following LTE devices will now be limited to 3G speeds:

- LG Revolution
- VL600 aircard
- MiFi 4510L
- Pantech Breakout

I have the VL600, which to my knowledge is Verizon's only LTE aircard. I checked the Verizon site and there are no data-only devices (aircards, jetpacks) listed to upgrade.

So, what's going on? Is 4G and up going to be phones-only?

I have a mifi 7730L jetpack that is LTE through Verizon. Are you saying you didn't see any aircards or jetpacks or are you talking about plans? I'm confused...

When I'm logged into Verizon and search for aircards or click on my VL600 account and search for available replacements or upgrades, nothing shows up. I see a couple of different models on eBay but don't know if they will be supported?

That’s really surprising Dan because a year or so back Verizon was claiming it was going to shutdown their 3G network because the nation was sufficiently covered by their LTE network. I really think this is a bad move because for chasers there are still plenty of areas where a 3G signal is very nice to have. It beats 1XRTT any day of the week.

As far as I know the latest air card on offer from Verizon is the Novatel USB730L, which was released last year in July. The chipset is Cat 6 capable so it is capable of running the fastest speeds on the network. I hope this helps.
