TWISTER 2 in 3-D?

I guess I'll play devil's advocate. I enjoyed Twister, watched it a bazillion times, and will probably watch it again someday. And if a Twister 2 ever does come out, of course I'll see it. But I have to ask, does storm chasing really need more publicity? A good number here got their start from watching the first movie. Are you ready for a fresh wave of traffic flooding the Plains, not to mention the Stormtrack forums? Think, June 7, 2009, northwest Missouri.

I look forward to a Twister 2 3D movie. The original Twister is fading from the public's memory. We need a new movie so that if someone who doesn't know about storm chasing asks "is it like that new 3D movie?" we can say "Yeah, it's just like that!".

I like the idea of getting "more into the lore" as the tristate tornado indeed was a mythical beast. However, when I hear "Twister 2 3D" I just envision a movie that revolves around flashy effects, and scenes meant to highlight the 3D aspects of the movie, rather than any real storyline or scientific accuracy. Of course accuracy is really not the goal of the filmmakers in the first place. Its a thrill ride. The first movie was very entertaining and I'd be in line to see the second one, cheesy 3D effects or not.

As I sit here and think about the original Twister movie that came out in 1996, I tend to think that a Twister 2 will come. It's time, it really is. With today's technology, I think there is a good shot to see it happen. (aka there are no twister-like movie's in 3D, that I know of). Why not make T2 the first? I think it will happen. I think it has to happen. :)

Shane, I see your point, and I do agree! Though somewhere in the back of my mind sits that little voice saying 'Yea, this isn't real, but it sure as heck is cool" :D

Too bad the first Twister isn't in 3d. Nothing like Jami Gertz's pair in 3D...

I think the time is right for it. People want to escape
from the day to day and this would provide that needed break.

Darker is also something Paxton wants to see. I am for this
as well as exploring the lore.

Contacting Kathy Kennedy would be a good first step since
she would be involved again. Somehow Paxton needs to know he
has support. Next you need Helen H. to back it as well.
The rest would follow.

3D isn't a big deal to me as I do not see in 3D.

I hope whatever comes out is well made, quality with good writing and
takes us all on a wild ride!

Tim

If anyone finds information for e-mailing Bill Paxton, Kathleen Kennedy or Steven Spielberg let me know. I would like to let them know I am interested in seeing another movie. It would be nice if Jan De Bont (Directed last film) and Helen Hunt returned. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Alan Ruck and Lious Smith (Helen's mom) would be nice to see in the movie to.

A few days after creating the Facebook page for Twister 2, we now have over 380 supporters, so that initiative is going very well!

I DEFINATELY feel there is a demand for this and the time is right for a 3D spectacular such as this. It's going to be great watching this develop.

Jeff,

There are a few groups related to weather on FB, like the Meteorology Group, any chance of making a wall post to them and others we can find? or would that be considered FB spam....

hmmmm or perhaps get with the owners of those groups, maybe they will support the cause would be a better idea I think. :)

I keep seeing June 7, 2009 brought up as some horrid chaser convergence that ruined everyone's day. We were right in the thick of it and it was no different than any other busy day.

Does anyone really think chasing could be anymore popular or "exposed" to the general public than it already is? Discovery/TVN has saturated chasing beyond what I thought was capable the past few years; bums in alleys in major cities know who RT is. Do you really think a Twister sequel is gonna trump that for exposing chasing to the public? Do you even care?

I find it incredibly odd that a forum full of so many TVN fans would have an issue with another Twister movie because_it_might_expose_chasing_and_create_an_influx_of_new_wannabes...while TVN is spreading the chasing vibe on a brand new continent. That's just laughable.

A Titanic the movie style look at the Great Tri State Tornado and with the inclusion of Dr. Doswell's recently released new findings on the event. Meteorological as well as period re-creation, THAT would be a good sequel!

Of course they're going to have to write a dopey love story into the plot like Titanic and Twister. Gotta have that so our sig others will go with us. I just hope it's not the main plot of the movie. With Kathleen Kennedy as executive producer - count on some time to go get popcorn and go pee time while they develop that!

Hmmm. I wonder why Titanic didn't make crossing the Atlantic more popular? ;-)
