• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Things To Do During A RIDGE

Hi all, for those of you around the eastern nebraska area, a few things to do include...

Stratigic Air and space Museum near Ashland, NE
Omaha Zoo
Lincoln is holding the Hot Rod Super Nationals on May 29th-31st for anyone intrested

im sure there are many others around these parts, just cant think of them right now...

Two words: national parks! A couple of years ago we went to Yellowstone, we have been to many others (and national monuments, historic sites, wildlife refuges etc.) during down periods. If this pattern does not turn around by June, this is what we plan to do.

Finally get around to working on stock images! If it were not for the ridge I don't know when I would have made time to get this done.

If the pattern keeps up, I might actually finish the other two categories of that site (WV photos and storm photos).

Come out to the NM, CO, AZ area. In the absence of the usual May activity in the Plains and Midwest, the recent weather pattern in the Southwest has at least offered a few interesting weather observation opportunities - and the storms, even if rarely supercellular, are often photogenic. While not a true monsoon, the moisture sources from the GOM and Pacific have been similar to those of the late-summer monsoon, and there have been storms nearly every afternoon and/or evening. I've put together some Web pages on the activity over NM around the Memorial Day weekend. You can view them at:

http://www.johnefarley.com/nm509.htm

This includes the 5/23 report I previously posted, but also a good lightning display on 5/24 and some rather photogenic high-based convection on 5/21. I am feeling a LITTLE less storm-deprived since I got to NM a week ago today.

I'm continuing being a nerd. I just started a summary of some tornadoes in OK that occurred April 25, 1893...the first time Norman and Moore got hit and I'm waiting for NCDC to release the tornado data for February so I can finish that database. I shot some stills of the anvil from the storm near DFW tonight (yep, clearly visible in Norman), and I'm trying to figure out how to download music into my kid's iPod without downloading all my music at the same time  At least I finally chased a REAL storm yesterday :D
