• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Things To Do During A RIDGE

Ooooh ooooh, I know! If you havent left yet, STAY HOME!!!
Thats the situation Im in right now, my chase vacation starts Monday.
Might just pass this year, Im considering chasing brushfires intead, theyre EASY to find!:D

And so it happened. Im not chasing a SLIGHT risk 1300 miles, like Dan said, its about the finances. I guess Im done for this year, limited schedule. Chasing is nice, watching a 6 month old grow up in front of you is cooler. Besides, I fly RC and fly by video....pretty cool! I got to nowcast two different groups to the Greensburg F5, that was an experience even from in front of my computer, they even met up with each other!
So I look forward to buying some very interesting DVDs this year, the content will be intense.

I have to agree too.....gas prices, and LONG drives warrants NOT chasing slight risks. While there may be a few storms worthy of chasing, I won't be chasing them. Being in South Carolina....the Northern Plains is just to far to go, with limited time available. I'm already in the process of clearing my entire schedule out for APRIL of '09. Having said all that.....I'll still be ready for Kansas/Oklahoma/Missouri on a MOD and/or HIGH risk through June 20th.

You could go to the River Festival in Wichita if you are on a chasecation right now with nothing to do. I think the River Festival is still going for another week or so. If you are my age (26) or younger you might want to be careful at night on the weekends if you are down there. It would be quite embarrasing to get your a$$ kicked by a bunch of highschool kids and that is a very real possibility at night (on weekends) if you are younger. I know several people who have gotten jumped down there. Just start swinging for Adam's apples if that happens. I'm not too proud to hit a man in the throat if I'm getting jumped. I'm not trying to scare anybody away, it really is a good time and your odds of getting jumped are slim to none, but it can happen (for NO reason) if you're younger. They have concerts, food, all sorts of activities, and fireworks. It is along the river in downtown Wichita. Anyhow, I promise you it's better than seeing the world's largest ball of twine.

Man, if you're going to go to Cedar Point, at least ride Magnum XL-200! The Top Thrill Dumpster is probably one of the most boring, unimaginative coasters ever built :)

Well...and I thought I was doing nerdly things ;)

I just finished a preliminary climatology for February tornadoes. Over the past 165 Februaries, there have been 1910 tornadoes with 449 tornado days. February of 1964 and 2002 only had 2 tornaodes each, and 2008 holds the record for most tornadoes by a long shot at 191. Numbers for 2009 will be added as soon as the final numbers are finalized.

Ok, back to my corner now :p

This pattern reminds me of a July setup so my thinking was that there might at least be possibility of overnight MCS's riding the periphery and offering some good lightning opportunity. At least in the short term, it doesn't appear IL was have any such luck but i'm no fcast pro like you guys so who knows. This is prime time to back up accumulated media, clear off the hard drive and perform system maintenance. Also cleaning the lenses as well as DSLR sensor and camera bag. Have to get a sway bar support replaced as well as tune up so from my humble standpoint of "marginal setup's need love too", the break is nice.
