• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

So, where are all...

Leave it to Shane to make the most sense..lol

In reality it doesnt matter if we are new or have 40 years out there.. We all do it cause we love wx. Thats why we spend every last dollar and every available vacation, personal day, floating holiday, and sick day following clouds around the plains. :)

Tornadoes never once crossed my mind all weekend - and the footage of them on TWC was just white noise in the background as I was drying my hair getting ready to visit Graceland......there are way, waaaaaay more important things in life than going balls-to-the-wall on each and every single chaseday

I was just wondering what your objective point is here? I mean - seeing as you are referencing my post in particular - I'd like some clarification if at all possible as to how this relates to the way we forecasted for the event. It seems you're making some pretty bold assumptions on other people's priorities and I certainly don't appreciate it when they are made after I posted a good-natured, slightly comical reply to this slightly comical thread. I've also already said that I stand by my forecast posts that I made before this event and wouldn't have changed a thing. I am also not wailing about not having seen the tornadoes on Saturday - so your point is?

First off, I wouldn't call your post, or this thread slightly "comical", but what can be construed as comedy I guess is in the eye of the person writing it. Objective? HMMMM...well, how about the FACT that everyone has there own priorities, such as you going to Graceland, and myself NOT. Wouldn't this be an accurate summation? Wasn't this sort of the jist of this thread....People who go on some chases, and others who do not, based on whether or not they think the conditions warrant it, and whether the conditions are good enough to take precedence over other things??? Also, the ONLY "reference" (more like an example) to your entire post was the Graceland example, so don't flatter yourself. And lastly, you said you do not appreciate "some pretty bold assumptions on other people's priorities". HUH?? I'm sorry here, but I didn't ASSUME anything. I flat out said, If given a choice between Graceland and chasing, I'd go chasing. There is no assumption being made whatsoever, it's a FACT. I'm not ASSUMING you would go to Graceland, because you DID, so.....hope you had fun. Furthermore, I never said a WORD about your forecast, or whether you would or wouldn't have changed anything about it...mainly because I don't care one way or the other. In fact, it doesn't matter to me who forecast WHAT last week. It's not important. This thread should never have been started in the first place, because it's turned into nothing but drama, and now I'm sorry to say...I've participated in this too. Just for record here, and Karen, this is NOT directed to you, so don't 'retaliate" thinking it IS, but.......why is it that so many people seem to have to ALWAYS find fault or issues with every post that is submitted? Difference of opinions are, of course, are expected, but geeeeesh. I KNOW I'm not an expert forecaster, so I don't tear apart someone elses, nor would I if I WERE a pro at it. On this last forecast, I would have chased in a heartbeat if I lived closer to that area, but there were a LOT of naysayers that were so adament about thinking it wasn't even REMOTELY a good idea. But then it progressed into yet ANOTHER personal attack from BOTH sides, such as THIS thread as now become. I can FULLY understand how some people never post anything at all. They read everything, but seldom post. Why post anything if someone is waiting in the wings to shred it apart? Well, I guess I'm just as guilty NOW, but maybe I'll just revert back to last year, or the year before, and just READ the forecasts, NOW reports, and chase summaries, and let the stormchaser "professionals" take control of all the boards. I really don't have the time to "defend" every post, like some 5 year-old.

I'd just like to point out the fact that the correct punctuation is " else's "

thanks :)

Why post anything if someone is waiting in the wings to shred it apart?

It's pandemic in the online world of message boards/forums. Only *very* tight moderation and membership rules can keep a lid on it. A ratings system can help, unless a group of misfits gang up to skew the results (like voting for Sanjaya on American Idol). Perhaps some forums here need to be subdivided with everyone providing their own forecasts and results in separate threads with no replies allowed. Not as easy to read, but hey - it's just an idea...

You said it. I quit posting much because of few members I wont name attack me or make fun of me for almost anything I post. This site is not what it used to be. When I joined this site I thought it was speacial. Now it is just another wx site to me. I found you will have these problems at any site you go to. That is life. We only get one life so why waste precious minutes argueing or fighting with eachother? Nobody needs the stress. We can work out our problems like mature civilized adults or continue bashing eachother.

David's post was in jest and I am sure he ment no offence.

To all who chase remember this song:

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

And out of this heated debate came a learning experience for me.

Like whomever posted about NE needing 60s or higher dews, I was skeptical that there would be any tornadoes--here in Manitoba you need similar moisture, usually. But this time I was wrong.

What this taught me is that the caprock is very much like Alberta. In AB you don't need 60s dews to produce tornadoes--50s and sometimes 40s can be enough.

Like I said, a learning experience, one amongst many. The weather game can be so humbling sometimes. :)

Not to get too picky, but nobody EVER said that you couldn't get tornadoes with td's in the 50's on Saturday. As a matter of fact I said there would be tornadoes, I just said that without dewpoints in the 60's Saturday would not be a major tornado outbreak like 3/28 was. That in fact ended up being true. That is why I think this whole thread is a crock of poop. Nobody ever came close to saying anything about not getting any tornadoes with forecasted td's.

Yea we all need to take a humor pill, a little razzing never hurts anyone, I think a bigger problem for the 21st was the presence of stratus. Got some nice hail in Eastern CO that day, that was the main highlight. Saw weak rotation and was hoping for a cold air funnel but never happened.

Texas was just too far for us that day. DOH!
