• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Phone apps for the 2019 chase season

I recently downloaded RadarUS+ for iOS. RadarScope is of course my primary radar app, but it does not provide a regional or national composite view; RadarUS+ gives me that big picture perspective on what’s going on - more for my morning forecast, when I want to see if there is any ongoing convection.

I also use the RadarUS+. I use it for an overall picture of ongoing convection and also use it on the way to the target area before I switch to RadarScope. I like the road map that is imbedded in it.
There is a free GOES 16 satellite app. It’s called SSEC GOES. The loop takes longer than i’d like to load, but it does provide your position on the map which is helpful.

Thanks Todd. I have been looking for something that would plot my position on a sattelite image.

Anyone know of an iPhone app other than RadarScope that allows me to update my SN location? Switched over to Mac this year due to work and no longer have the option for SN app on my computer.

Thanks for the SSEC GOES recommendation Todd! That’s the first app I have seen that includes positioning on a satellite image, which is very useful; I remember countless times jerking around trying to relate features to my position by estimating relative to state borders or the few major highways that appeared on the satellite map. The reviews for SSEC GOES say that it loads very slowly, particularly the animations, but hopefully that improves. I do wish Satsquatch would add positioning. I could still see needing to use both, one for estimating my own position and one for better speed, resolution and other surface data.

I started playing with this yesterday after someone mentioned it somewhere. For the price, definitely a great find. I figure it’s probably as close to GR2AE as you’re going to get for a mobile app. Right now, it’s iOS only, but it seems to be a newer app and the devs are open to suggestions.
