• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

If there was such a think as a PDS for a snow storm warning, the NWS just issued it:

http://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=lwx&wwa=special weather statement

Basically, the special statement says that DC could see the highest recorded history storm, beating the 1922 Knickerbocker storm which recorded 28" in DC (much higher in MD suburbs). The estimates are up to 30+ inches of snow in and around DC which is BIBLICAL for this region for one storm. Add to that a few areas still have around 2 to 4 inches still on the ground from a few quick blasts last week and this past Tuesday, and we are likely to see a few more inches come this Tuesday after this weekends storm.

I'm going to be out in it this afternoon, likely in DC. I doubt I'll be able to make it home, so I'm going to be stuck in my car for quite a while. Don't know what will happen exactly. I just hope my datacard holds up as I will be streaming (see sig. for link).

I'm afraid to go on eastern us weather. It's gotta be one giant weather weenie fest over there.

Looking at the national radar mosaic, that is one massive precip shield. I'd like to see what kind of totals come out of this. :D

LOL, yeah...I can't even keep up with the threads there. They post faster than you can read them....and that's in only one thread...you try to read more than one thread there right now...forget it!!!!:D

Snow has started here in the past hour or so. Already covering the ground. I'm waiting for the updated forecast but its looking like well get 5-10, possibly 12 inches of snow. Looks to be our biggest snowfall since the March 7-8, 2008 winter storm which buried Ohio. We got about 14 or so inches from that one.

Weather Channel Classic?

I can see it now. Years from now, you will see what happened on the East Coast during the "Super Bowl" snowstorm on the Storm Stories series. It will be called "Super Bowl" since it happened the same weekend as Super Bowl XVIV!! :D

Then you will turn to your kids and grand kids and tell them "I remember that storm, I kept track of it on the Stormtrack web site!" :D

Good day all,

LOL ... I am anvy of Mr Foster.

I am so SDS'ed to death right now I almost bought a plane ticket to Virginia!

As for Florida, not much, although a squall line may push through. But like 99% of these fronts, probably will just ruin the weekend down here - again ;-(

As for this system, this will be a major dumping of snow centered almost over the DC area. Be careful out there!

Went out and shoveled a little while ago. Already have 2 inches. Not looking forward to driving to work in this. Plenty of accidents already

It wouldn't surprise me if that happens as the storm continues to wind up - but I'm not seeing any lightning on NLDN or USPLN either in the last hour... Visibilities south of DC are running at or above a mile in light-to-moderate snow. Looks worse north into MD.

The television stations in the area are reporting blue-green flashes and were are trying to determine if they are lightning or power flashes related. That's probably where the thundersnow report in the post above came from.
