• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

new iphone--tethering/gps/chasing potential?

if any of you have problems or whatever let me know cause i was confused at first myself when i actually tried to tether

let me know how it goes

I'm not exactly sure that would be worth all the trouble. I just went and bought a microsoft streets and trips package for $65 that came with a little gps that looks like a usb memory stick

Guys, Jailbreaking the phone to tether is equivalent to stealing the service. So, if we're going to be talking about it and PM'ing on Stormtrack on how to do it, we should also be talking about how to steal everyone's video and pictures and post to youtube with our names on it...

Please people are paying $30 for data and this is hardly considered stealing. You can do the same thing on most ATT phones for only $15 and most smart phones even have a feature built in called internet sharing so please get off your high horse . This is not stealing !

ATT is greedy anyways. BUT it's not stealing. It's utilizing a built in feature. Tethering came with 3.0 from apple but for some reason they left it under wraps. What we've done is brought the feature to the surface so it's not hidden in code anymore.

Just because your car is capable of going 120 MPH legally in Germany doesn't mean it's legal to drive it 120 MPH here. With AT&T as your iPhone carrier, you are violating your terms of service. Post em up if you want to prove me wrong!

I don't have AT&T and don't care what anyone does with their phone. Its absurd to say it's A-OK though. Use at your own risk.

The thing is they don't want people to use it because it would hog all the data. Stupid people would get on their tethered laptop and download 3gb movie torrents. Who does that? I use my iphone so much that honestly when I'm out tethered looking at grlevel3 I'm using LESS data than normally. I don't really see a problem with that but some might.

I don't see a problem with it as I (and most chasers do) only use it for radar and warnings. I'm not downloading any movies or anything. Oh, and to top things off, my dad works for AT&T.

Yea I was taught everything by ATT employees. When I bought my phone I asked about tethering and the guy suggested I jailbreak and use PDA net. But now since 3.0 a buddy of mine from ATT showed me what he did ... Which is what I'm showing others. So to go along with your analogy ... it would be like the cops themselves telling you to do 120mph because they're doing it too lol

I completely see where you are coming from don't get me wrong but when I'm tethered I really do use MUCH less data than usual. As of right now I'm at work and have been surfing the web on my Iphone for 2 hours straight. Connecting to my laptop for measly grlevel3 updates every 5 minutes is nothing in comparison.
