  • After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Live New Orleans Police Scanner & listener reports

All I've heard is that most of the buses turned around, though some made it to the superdome. Whatever it is, I can't imagine it's too bad, since the officer at the superdome said that more officers weren't needed at this time. I'd be careful about drawing too many conclusions, since we're seeing only a VERY limited about of info. Not saying something isn't up, but just to be careful about drawing conclusions yet.

"Appears that it will be a little bit before the general gets there.

He was in the Superdome... it appears we may have a situation"

I'm not sure how to work this, but I don't think it's most efficient to have a play-by-play here. Perhaps we can reserve our transcription/summary to one every 30 minutes or something. I agree, this is VERY interesting to listen in to, but with the situation that is New Orleans, I think we're going to hear a lot of interesting/newsworthy info. Just trying to avoid a huge thread... Also, please be sure not to repeat what another member has posted (not picking on anyone in particular!). We really should try to avoid redundancy. Thanks!

"0145 hours, soldiers shot in upper leg, solider has medical personell attending to him at present break, civilian that shot the soldier has been cornered in a locker room and personell are attempting to extricate him at this time"

One soldier shot at the superdome

Yup, I was just going to post the same thing. Very sad. Is that what it's down to down there?

Also, I don't know what everyone is listening to this in but I'm using VideoLAN and it actually says what channel its on.

Just as I was writing that, I just heard that soldier was shot in upper leg area. The guy who shot him is cornered in a locker room.

Yeah I agree. Sounds good. Although I did just repeat something by one minute. :)

The scanner is relatively quiet. I keep hearing "car-to-car" which I can only assume means they mostly talking off of the scanner frequency. If anything significant happens, I'll post it.

The only major thing I have noted other than the national guard troop being shot is that they plan on escorting the remaining Children's Hospital staff out of the city and possibly taking the site over as a base of operations as it still has a working LAN line and air conditioning.
