Jon Racy, SPC Lead Forecaster, 1970-2013

Sad news from the SPC today: Lead Forecaster Jon Racy has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

I know that our community valued Jon's work, and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

When I first learned of his death, I didn't immediately connect the dots. Now suddenly it dawns on me. Racy--the guy whose name has appeared on countless SPC convective outlooks. That Jon Racy. After reading the above tribute, his death hits home and I feel very sad. What a young, talented, and dedicated man to be taken in such fashion, or in any fashion. To those of you who work at the SPC and happen to read this, and to anyone else here who knew him, I offer my sincere condolences. I am sorry that you have lost your coworker and, above all, your friend.
