• A student is looking for help on tropical cyclone prediction. Please fill out the survey linked to this thread: https://stormtrack.org/threads/storm-and-hurricane-intensity-prediction-survey.32957
  • After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Passing of ST's Owner Mark Blue

Very sad news, I had no clue as I didn’t know him personally and he kept his suffering private from this forum. My deepest condolences to his family and all who knew him, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Even though I didn’t know Mark he always came across as a friendly, positive, upbeat guy. He was an integral force in maintaining this site and a benefit to the chaser community in general. May he rest in peace, relieved from his suffering. Regarding this site I think it’s a valuable resource and it’s critical to ensure its survival and if funding/ownership issues become necessary to resolve please start a thread at the appropriate time.

My condolences to his wife, friends and family. RIP. I didn't know that he was having serious health issues. It was certainly a lot of work and dedication to keep this site going. Such a contribution to the storm chase community and to those with an interest in weather and storms who stopped by to learn.

It really threw me for a loop when Jane posted of Mark’s passing Saturday night. He was part of my first real chase 6/12/05, and from the get go, it was clear he was honest to goodness good people. I always looked forward to seeing him and Jane at ChaserCon or bumping into them in the field. You could not meet 2 nicer people. It had been several years since I’d seen them and admittedly was unaware of what he was going through, but did not hesitate to attend Mark’s celebration of life today. I count myself as fortunate to of known him. RIP Mark

Very sorry to learn the loss of Mark. He inspired me and many other chasers over the years. My condolences to his family and the storm chasing community. He will be missed.

My condolences to Mark's family and friends.

Hopefully ST can carry on. One of the few avenues for storm chasing that is void of any daily drama.

We are very sad to hear the news of Mark's passing. I know Mark will be missed not only by family but the community here as well.

Very sorry to hear this news. I hope Mark's family knows how much we all appreciate his role in keeping this place afloat in recent years.
