I was wondering when you go into Device Manager what you see for the manufacturer of your IEEE 1394 Bus host controller? Seems the Texas Instruments chips have not had as much trouble as other manufacturers, especially Prolific. I've never used the $600.00 + software suites some here use, but I have had decent luck with Nero and Roxio. If I had to choose one I'd take Nero in a heartbeat, although I have yet to import any HD video since purchasing my HV-40. I guess I better get my rear in gear and see if I have any issues since others have periodically experienced issues, especially with Firewire.
