FYI, not sure if you'd classify this as a problem or not (I would), but if you log in to http://stormtrack.org/forum instead of http://www.stormtrack.org/forum, the login doesn't stick. That is, you're actually logged in, but the forums display as if you weren't -- no Target Area stuff for me, no Bar and Grill, etc. If you then go to www.stormtrack.org/forum it works. It took me a while to figure out what the problem was; if this is something that can't be fixed, you might want to make a note about it somewhere so that people know to always enter the www prefiix. Tested this with multiple browsers on multiple devices (even the iPhone); it's definitely a server side issue.

I have had the same issue....started sometime this week and wouldn't let me "log in" so to speak. Wasn't sure what the deal was until I cleaned cookies and just typed it in (WWW)
I thought that fixed the "problem" but I still cannot log in using my desltop at work, 64bit windows vista with IE8 (not really sure that's the problem but it seems as though it just won't let me log in for some reason) I have even tried firefox and even went so far as going back to old IE. This still wouldn't let me log in. I also tried switching 32b campatibility mode.....no luck.

A similar problem was brought up before by a few members with issues related to cookies. About the most we as moderators can do, given our limited access to actually modify general forum software settings, is alert Tim to the problem, which I have done. Perhaps Tim can manage a fix with whatever tools he has available as the site administrator. Thanks for noting this issue again gents.

The only workaround I've found is just to go up to the address bar and insert "www." in front of stormtrack.org/forum. Then it works.

Tim seems like a very busy person; he should consider getting another admin to help him (perhaps one of the moderators?) or turning the administration of the board over to someone who can keep up with it.

It usually takes me about 4 times each time I visit to successfully login here. I login, get the successful login redirect message and then it takes me back to the forum and shows me not logged in. I always have to make sure www. is in the address bar and also remember me option is checked.

There are very easy ways to fix this, see one at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/370066-Login-issue?p=2099282&viewfull=1#post2099282

I run 3 vBulletin 4.x communities which all had this problem and I resolved it in seconds. If you need any help, please feel free to ask, I am here for yins.

This is exactly the same issues except for me only it works maybe 50% of the time when I use www. I had a hard time logging in yesterday period. I understand Tim is a busy guy, have any of the mods emailed/contacted him yet? This is getting ridiculous.

Yes, I've sent a message to Tim, and we've also started a discussion thread on the administration section of the forum, so at least Tim is aware of the problem and can hopefully find a fix when he gets some time available to review the issue.

Always use www.stormtrack.org and you'll never have an issue.

I'm not sure if it is quite that simple. It may also depend upon the browser you use and the cookie settings preferences you have. For example, "don't accept cookies except from the originating domain" may be a problem if www.domain.com is considered different from domain.com. I think that is part of the reason it is important to tell vBulletin to explicitly treat all cookies as coming from domain.com

I don't know if this helps anyone but I was able to set it up where I stay logged in. Every time I go to storm track I am automatically logged in and I have never had any problems. Have any of you tried that? It works for me.

I thought this seemed to solve the problem awhile back Skip Post #2, but it kind of sounds like there is some sort of sporadic problem as most who have chimed in here seem to know how to login in and it definitely doesn't sound like user error to me. There are more than a few problems that need to be addressed since the upgrade to version 4, not the least of which is the search feature. The custom Google search that was created kind of saved the day, but it would be nice if it just worked like its' suppose to.
