• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Those who were around in the previous heyday of this forum may remember the Storm Chaser Database we put together in 2006-2007. I'm in the process of building an updated version of this with the intention of hosting it on the StormTrack server as a new feature. This will serve as a large public directory of chasers as well as a links list. Like the original, each chaser will have a login to edit their profile and keep the info up-to-date.

The original version is still on my server, you can test-drive it to see the general concept: http://stormhighway.com/cdb/

I'm listing the original set of data fields/questions below (with a few of my own updates). If you want, copy-paste these into a thread reply with your information entered in. I will enter that into the initial rebuild. Please feel free to add more questions that you think would be interesting, or edits to the current ones.

I'm on the fence about migrating the old profiles. Since most are way out of date anyway, and some of the profiles are from chasers who have long left the forum (I don't know who would be OK with this going to StormTrack), I'm leaning on just doing a fresh start. Let me know what you all think.

I'm planning on working on this while I have some time off for the Thanksgiving Holiday, though I can't guarantee it will be ready by then. Right now it's a CGI/flatfile system, I'll be converting it to MySQL/PHP. Of course, I'd welcome any coding help if you have the knowledge.

Mods/Admins, would it be possible to set up a subdomain with MySQL/PHP on the server? For example: http://scdb.stormtrack.org/

I think a fresh start would be the way to go Dan. I saw Skip's profile and immediately thought it was out of date as he referred to himself as "green", which we know isn't accurate based on current events. The other question you posed about a subdomain will have to come from Tim, but it's definitely a good idea to pursue.
