Favourite restaurants in chase alley

I remember the tornado museum at Big Texan. It had a lot news clippings and other articles about Texas tornadoes and especially Amarillo tornadoes. The especially cool thing they had was what was left of a Jeep after an F4 got through with it in Pampa  . Yep , the steaks at Big Texan are good, and the chocolate cake :p...awesome stuff!!
Another good BBQ place in Amarillo is Dyer's...family owned place (I think the original restaurant is in Pampa)...lots of food, good price.
I know the steak house Jay mentioned that's in DDC...it's across the railroad tracks on the south side of town, out by itself, and I cannot remember the name of it. Bet Mike U would know.

usually on either a bust day or travel day setting up for the next day.

My team loves the "cabbage Patch" in Plainview and "Staples" in Guthrie, Ok. Also I cant thi nk of the name but a certain stake house in Dodge City just south of the RR tracks.

Jay, what was that steak place we ate at in Borger the other day? That place was DELICIOUS! I hope to get to eat there again soon!

The jeep is still there even though the museum is closed!!

David that wonderful place was Sutphens BBQ. They used to have a couple places in amarillo too before the family closed them. They have always had the best BBQ in Texas. Now that they arent here Cattlecall is the best. Not only in westgate mall but they have a place on Paramount just south of I-40 also.

I didnt know that the texas tornado museum was ever open after 2000. There used to be a sign on the outside but I though it was taken down along time ago. I never got to go in and see it, but i know they collected a bunch of stuff from the pampa tornado that was supposed to be in their. I am surprised some place like OKC (Moore) hasnt made a an official tornado museum. I figure it will be something that would be a pretty big tourist thing especially in Moore, maybe thats just me.

Sirloin Stockage was another great place to eat. I know there are a few random ones still open i think, but most in the panhandle closed years ago unfortunately.

Sutphens BBQ is pretty good. The old lady who owned it used to live down the street from me. Since her kids took over though most people in Borger I know dont think so well of it anymore. I still thinks its pretty good though. Good for Borger atleast.

Well, given how busy the High Plains have been so far this year, I have to mention a great place for breakfast here in Goodland. It's called Buttterfly Cafe and it's at the airport here, Renner Field. Wonderful, homestyle breakfast food and homemade cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls that are to die for. Not to mention it's pretty cheap. Just wish there was a good BBQ place around here. I miss Jack Stack in Martin City, MO which at the south edge of the KC metro area.

Big Texan in AMA. Food is mediocre, prices are a bit high, but love the atmosphere. First and only time I've seen a lady lift her shirt while chasing ;) Too bad she was 40+!

Hey, there is nothing wrong with that Aaron, LOL...The ladies down here in the Panhandles are not ashamed to show a little bit of skin.....But anyway, If in the Perryton, TX area, you have to try out the Smoke House....Awsome place to eat, good people and not bad on prices. The chicken fried steak is the best.......

Now if in the Canadian, TX Area and want the best steak around, You must go to the Cattle Exchange on Main Street, its in an old early 1900 hotel and is an awsome steak house.....I recommend the 24 ox rib-eye, medium-rare or just rare....awsome place.....

Hands Down is Enrike's Mexican Food at the Ponca City Airport. This place is so good that corporate Jets land here just to get lunch... Its a bit more expensive, but so worth it....

Ahh yess, that place is awesome. I used to live in Ponca City and we ate there frequently. I know several pilots that fly down there once a month to eat then come back to Manhattan.

Add me in as one who likes the Big Texan. First tried it a couple years ago mostly for the tourist experience but was surprised to find the steak was quite good. I'd definitely recommend it.

If you get a little farther west on I-40, Del's in Tucumcari, NM is excellent. First heard about it on a similar thread on this list a few years ago, tried it out, and now go whenever I can. Just had lunch there today, in fact. Better New Mexican food than most of the places in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, IMHO, and good burgers, too, if that is what you prefer.

Two decades of seeking out the best food in Kansas so....

since everyone is in Great Bend today, lets start there:

The chinese place at the west edge of town on 56 is the only edible chinese in town and is pretty good for a buffet.

Pancho's mexican also on 10th is good Santa Fe style.

Around Hutch, Dutch Kitchen on 50 west of Hutch is great! So is the County Kitchen across the street from Yoder Meats (another great place) east of Hutch on 96.

Around Wichita, there is another Strouds just off I-135 north. Its at 37th and Hillside. Some of the best fried chicken in the world, or at least west of Pittsburg.

Council Grove, the Hayes House is one of the best steakhouses anywhere.

If you are wanting buffet, Coyote Canyon in Salina and Topeka is actually a great deal for ten bucks. Good brisket, chicken, etc.

Anyone chasing around Pittsburg has got to stop and eat chicken. Chicken Annie's and Chicken Mary's north of Pittsburg are superb, as are Barto's, Gephardt's, and Chicken Annie's in Girard. Incidentally, the Girard restaurant is the one seen in Jeff Piotrowski's video of the Franklin, KS twister seen on TWC. My regular destination though is Chicken Annie's Annex at the 400 and 69 junction south of Pittsburg. The food is just as good as the original but the location is more convenient.

Still in Pittsburg if you aren't interested in chicken, Jim's Steakhouse on North Broadway is awesome! Open only for dinner, it would be a great reward type dinner. Also, if you find yourself north of Arma on 69, stop in at Kevin's Corner Store and try the absolute best beef jerky in the world.

More to come later...

For good eats farther north, in ND, it's Space Aliens bar & grill, in FAR, BIS, and MOT.

Great ribs for a "northern" location.

In Saskatchewan, if you're ever in Kerrobert, you have to go to Ma'am's (no website). It's easy to find and what a great find it is--inexpensive, fast, and local. Can't beat that.

I must have been there on a bad day. The steak was dry and full of gristle. I just figured that the ambience must be the draw of the place... ;)
