Forgive me if this has already been brought up earlier as I don't read everything on Stormtrack... not that I have the time to.

But when is the last time we had an updated restaurant list for chase alley?? With many folks making their annual pilgrimage to the plains... perhaps some on this list can give their recommendations, and which ones to avoid. The latest list I know of is in Tim Vasquez's Storm Chase book which is almost 6 years old now....I'm looking forward to the responses.

Wellington's Steak House in Wellington, KS is good, we ate there on April 24th and I really enjoyed the food and service.

The Red River steakhouse in McLean, TX is pretty good. They have live music on the weekends.

This topic has always fascinated me, because I have always wondered how people discover sitdown resturants during chases???? We certainly don't have the time before the action starts, and once everything's over, nothing worth the money is open. So when do you guys find the time to sit down and eat a normal meal on a chase???

The best we've managed thus far is the Country Kitchen in Sayre, OK because it was a 24-hour truck stop/travel center.

April 24th was the first time for me. We arrived in Wellington, KS early in the morning anticipating that storms would fire up around noon. That never happened. We ate, then moved north to I70.

Yeah the food was really good and I will eat there again if given the chance, but man was that waitress we had a little on the psycho side lol. Glad you posted this because it actually gave me a quick chuckle thinking of that day.

LOL. Guess there should be a word of warning if others do decide to have a chance to eat there... that waitress was quite the spazz, but the food was awesome.

Hands Down is Enrike's Mexican Food at the Ponca City Airport. This place is so good that corporate Jets land here just to get lunch... Its a bit more expensive, but so worth it....

usually on either a bust day or travel day setting up for the next day.

My team loves the "cabbage Patch" in Plainview and "Staples" in Guthrie, Ok. Also I cant thi nk of the name but a certain stake house in Dodge City just south of the RR tracks.

If you have enough time and your in Amarillo. Head to the Westgate Mall on the west side of town for the best BBQ you will ever have at "Cattle Call". You get a lot of food for your money. I get the lunch portion and rarely finish it. I have had BBQ from all over Texas and other places and no other place even starts to come close to this place. Also in Borger, TX (about an hour NE of Ama) there is a little hidden BBQ sandwich place that is amazing. It is hard to find and kinda hidden, but it is incredible BBQ. Its called Sammy's BBQ. It half a block down E Jefferson St just off of S Main St. If your just looking some real good burgers, go to the Blue Sky just off I-40 and Western in Amarillo. All three of these places will likely cost between 5 and 10 dollars, but are worth every penny.

Brian's eating...better bust the cap...

Seems like everytime we go in with the intentions of having a sit down meal....the atmosphere seems to instantly re-charge and get after it. I have an uncanny knack for this happening in the town of Pratt KS for some reason. I am 3 for 3 at the local Pizza Hut there. There is a very good steakhouse in Sidney NE that I enjoyed a few years back. Some of the best NE steak I have ever had.

The Big Texan in Amarillo! Best steaks I've tasted, and the chocolate cake is HUGE!

Stay at one of the nearby motels and the restaraunt will send out a big old limo, with cow horns on it, to pick you up, and then take you back later!
