Although I never met Fabian, it is obvious that he left a wonderful impression on so many, and for those of you fortunate for those moments...never forget them. I also give my condolences to his family and friends.

I think it's disgusting and sad to make such a thing necessary, but in case of any "media hawks" or hopefully hypothetical self-righteous slugs get any wrong idea, I need to make clear that Fabian did NOT have this horrific accident during a chase. He was meeting us pre-chase during the morning before this day's setup. My friend died anticipating doing what he dearly loved, but not during it; it should be noted especially that Fabian above every other chaser I've ever met took the greatest care in safety both in the field and behind the nowcasting software. So just in case any "guest" reading this thread gets an idea, let me warn you clearly: don't.

I trusted him enough to enter into situations where I would have, with pretty much anyone else as nowcaster, doubted my safety. Several times I've placed in his palms, with zero qualms or second thoughts, my very life; that fact amplifies even stronger the pain I'm feeling knowing how young he lost his own.

Fabian & I went on occasional chases during the 2004-2006 season. We related in the fact that we were of similar age and tried to plan chasing around our family. I do have to say that
he put his wife and kids first before chasing and cared most about there future and well being.
I loved to rib him with the phrase "pull a Fabian", a term I coined, meaning to have the camera on pause while filming a tornado ,which he did during two Illinois tornadoes. Although our
friendship dwindled after a petty dispute I had with him, he still managed to say good things about me. The most optimistic chaser I've known and truly down to earth. My thoughts and
prayers to his family and friends.

This is a terrible loss. I talked with Fabian occasionally online, and it was always a good conversation, always pleasant to talk to. I can't really comprehend that he's gone just yet.

My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to all of Fabian's friends and family, and wish them strength in this severely trying time.

Always shocking when "one of your own" passes in such a manner. I didn't know the man personally, but knew him as a chaser -- as I do all you -- through this forum and occasional chats.
