Fabian Guerra - ST Member

I never got the chance to me Fabian in the field, but sounds like he was a real nice guy. Please give my condolences to his family and friends. Sad news.

I-80 278 MM EASTBOUND TIME 0200 GUERRA WAS WESTBOUND ON I-80, A DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF HIS VEHICLE, HE SWERVED TO MISS THE DEER, CROSSED THE MEDIAN INTO THE EASTBOUND LANE AND STRUCK THE EASTBOUND SEMI VEHICLE 2 ACCIDENT REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION

That's terrible. I can't tell you how many times I nearly crashed going/coming from a chase because of deer, as I am sure many of you have.

Thoughts and prayers with Fabian's family and friends... I never knew him but I know what an awesome chase partner he was for Craig and Darrin among many others. This is just extremely sad.

Coming home from a successful chase in May of 2004 I hit a deer just outside of Des Moines. The deer population in Iowa has exploded in the last 20 years. Sadly, accidents like this are all too common.

I would like to thank all of the people who have reached out to help the family of Fabian Guerra by making a donation. We have received a few hundred dollars so far and I would again like to ask everyone who can, to PLEASE make a donation to help his wife and two children.
There is no donation that is too small, every dollar will help make a difference to this family who will be facing many expenses and obstacles in the coming days, weeks, and months.
Go to any Donation link on the following website and please be sure to post the initials "FGF" in the comments section so that we can be sure to get all of the money to this family.

THANK YOU!

I remember chatting with Fabian in the old irc chatroom... such a wonderful guy. My prayers go out to his family and friends. It's very unfortunate that this happened. Just another reminder not to take things for granted and enjoy every minute of your life because you just never know....

May he chase from the heavens above, a front row seat!

Very tragic situation and an exploding pop. of deer are serious problems in many areas. I almost hit two does last night visiting my sister in West Des Moines (just north of the Jordan Creek Mall). My sympathies to Fabian's family. Road hazards are my #2 fear behind lightning while chasing.

I did not know Fabian, but this is the kind of news that just puts a big damper on my night. Very, very sad.

My condolences and prayers go out to the family and friends of Fabian.

I did not know Fabian personally...our chase yesterday/today was in his honor and memory...many times throughout the day I thought of this tragedy....may peace and healing continue to be granted to his family and friends!!!!

I met Fabian on the old chaser chat room and then in person at one of the Denver conventions. After that I saw him in the field frequently and talked to him by phone about several chase setups through the years. He was a dedicated and enthusiastic chaser who embraced every aspect of the experience. My condolences go out to his family, friends, and chase partners.

My heart sank when I read the headline on the front page of the forum. I know both Craig and Fabian. I met Fabian for the first time in 2004 and chased with him often in 2006. Last time I talked to him in person was shortly after the Iowa tornadoes on May 25, 2008. Fabian was an excellent and dedicated chaser and from what I could tell through conversations a dedicated family man.

His family and friends will be in my prayers. He will be missed.
