Never like hearing news such as this. I have only interacted with Eric at the various storm chaser gatherings through the years as well as a number of e-mails, as he would always send me a complimentary note about my photography. I never forget that stuff. I hope he pulls through and can resume a normal life. My thoughts and prayers also go out to his family and others very close to him.

Here is the latest from Eric's wife.

"The Infectious disease Dr. had a sign put up yesterday so now we need to put on gloves and gowns to enter the room. He was running a fever and yet the white count was going down so they put him on a 3rd antibiotic to cover a possible fungal type infection.

Tomorrow he will be seen by a Nephrologist to check the status of his kidney."

Saw that. Some small but encouraging developments in a really horrible situation. I'm continuing to pray for Eric and Sue-Ellen, and I look forward to a time when we can all breathe a sigh of relief and gladness that Eric is back with us.

I don't know Eric but this is very sad news indeed. Prayers are sent from my family to Eric and his for a speedy recovery. May Gods healing hands comfort you. You can pull out of this Eric.

the latest news from Eric's wife regarding his health - Thanks for your continued prayers.

I went in to see Eric this morning. His eyes were open and there was a little movement from side to side. Even with that, the Doctors are saying there has been no change. What they are waiting for is tracking of the eyes in response to a command or direction given or a purposeful movement. The staff has been very attentive to his needs.

I met the Nephrologist today who updated me on the kidney. While the kidney is not as healthy as he would like to see, it is moving in the right direction. Fluids and antibiotics have been adjusted so they are not impacting the kidney as it helps to fight the infection.

We met with the neurologist today to be updated on Eric's status......A CT scan was given to Eric a few days ago, right after our last meeting. He did have a very small stroke, on the left side (on the right would have been more of a concern) but no bleeding. He still is not awake (even though his eyes have been opening) and we continue to be patient and wait for this. We will meet again on Thursday to see whether there is a change (this will be 2 weeks after the surgery)

Just as there were miracles in the days of the Macabees, we hope and pray for a miracle now.

I am still praying for Eric. This must be really hard on his family right now. Hopefully he will get better before christmas.

Though it's small and progress is very slow, it's great news to hear of the slight improvements. Eric sure seems like a fighter.

I am late on posting about Eric. Everything that has been said reflects my sentiments as well. I have met Eric several times, and he is truly passionate about most or all of the sciences. We had a conversation about astronomy at a party, and I saw him at one of KC's gem and mineral shows. Hang in there, Eric!---Rick

Having been away from Stormtrack for a week, this is terrible news... I remember Eric from the Denver conference and he is a class act. We will be hoping for some good news to make its way here soon.
