LOOKING FOR CHASE PARTNERS NORMAN AREA 2010

I would like to form a small group of dedicated chasers in the Norman area who would be willing to pitch in on the gas expenses and plan to stay in touch with each other prior to the event days to plan for the event. Perfer experienced individuals and an interest in studying and reporting of severe weather events.
I do have a portable two-way nws repeater link system that I can take with me for both reporting and obtaining updated information from both the NWS and skywarn spotters in the field. I been chasing since 1986
Interested individuals please PM me and I will get back to everyone.
Thank You.
David:)

Chase partner or shadow chaser

Well, . . . while I'd love to find an experienced chaser that'd would like to show a noob the ropes, I'd be just as happy to shadow an experienced chaser in hopes of learning anything offered along the way. By shadow, I mean follow in my own vehicle. I have do have some gear, a laptop & GPS device along with a couple cameras.

And while I do have enough money and more than enough time to do this on my own, it'd really be nice to have a partner or someone around that knows enough to share the knowledge and probably more importantly; keep me out of harms way.

Not to be pessimistic, but I really don't expect much for replies; if any at all. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to put this out here just in case. So if you have any interest, by all means make my day and drop me a message.

Thanks!
-tmt-

BTW: I live in Kansas City Kansas, and ideally would like to find somebody who's interested that lives in or around the central midwest.

Searching for people to form chase group in NC KS/SC NE

I would like to form a group of chasers in North Central KS/ South Central NE. Prefer experienced chasers, but am certainly interested in anyone with enthusiasm, to pitch in on gas and expenses. I’m self-employed and work on a daily basis, but usually do chase up to 200 miles if good probability. I was a spotter for six years, but have chased for 10 years so I have some experience. My forecasting abilities, however, are limited, I suck at math. Have 4-door Chevy HHR, laptop, GPS, mobile Internet, weather radio. If interested, PM me. Thanks.

I am a chaser with serveral years out there..... would rather chase with people then alone. More fun that way..... and I think a bit safer.

I am from MN but I go where they are for the day if its a good day. Have a few people that come every once in a while but...... well I lost my chasing partner a bit ago so looking for other who want to tag along...... Let me know

I'm in Middle TN but want to head out more often to the Plains, IL, IN, MS, LA, etc... I have a well equipped reliable ride. Just looking for people to ride along and split fuel costs with so I can go more often.

Hello everyone, my name is Josh. A little bit about me. I live in north MO, where I work full time as a firefighter. I have been "storm spotting" for the about 5 yrs now for the city since out dept. is responsible for setting off the storm sirens. This said to this point all I have done is go out in the county and spot. I know there is difference between spotting and chasing, and chasing is what I hope to get to do some of this season in the MO,KS,OK, and possibly TX areas. Only thing is I have no forecasting skills to help lead me to a target area. I would really like find a group of friendly experienced chasers that wouldn't mind letting me hang around and observe and learn from them. I'm in no way asking to occupy a spot in someones vehicle that could be occupied by someone with experience, and would rater drive my own vehicle. I don't bring any experience but one benefit I could possibly bring is the fact that my fiancé works part time for Comfort Inn hotel, and could use that as cheaper rooming in trade for letting me tag along and learn the ropes. I would be more then willing also to let someone ride along with me. some of the equipment I have: 2002 explorer, laptop mount, laptop loaded with GR3, a Windows Mobile phone for Internet/gps, GPS gate, Microsoft streets and trips, and a Canon t1i (kit lense only for now). I really hope to hear from some of you out there that would be willing to help me, if you have any questions feel free to ask. I will look forward to hearing from you.

Good morning everyone, for the third consecutive year, the ThunderstormTeam of Meteonetwork Association (Italian non profit Association for Meteorology and Climatology), will be for one month on the USA to chase Tornadoes.

This year we will be 4 people (like the past year) with one 4x4 rental car. The period of chasing will be from 20 April to 17 May. We will fly to Denver Co.

Like the slid years this scientific plan will consist in collecting the greater number of images and information for being studied then in Italy to our return.

The ThunderstormTeam collaborates in Italy with numerous local and national meteorological organizations, with private companies and publics, and also with the ESWD (European Severe Weather Database).

We will cover approximately 6-8 states for our chasings, and would be glad of being able to collaborate with the most expert than us American Chasers, which are a point of reference for us.

Best regards

Niccolò Ubalducci
ThunderstormTeam

Hey everyone..I just got accepted to do severe weather research at OU in Norman, OK, from May 24 til late August. I am a physics major from a small college in Northwestern Iowa so all my previous storm chasing was with limited success. (no tornadoes but really nice structure) It would be a lot of fun to actually get out there with some experienced chasers. I can help pay for gas and have wireless internet, a nice DSLR nikon camera, and some big ole binoculars. If this helps, I am also a trained spotter. Anyone interested?

I'll be looking to chase any promising upper Midwest setups again this year. I finally have some income so I won't be as reluctant to commit to the longer drives (although I'm still not going to the Plains :p).

My range is roughly northern 1/3 of IL, southern 1/2 of WI, E 2/3 of IA and adjacent areas of southern/eastern MN.

I'm going to be chasing in the upcoming season between 4/15 and 7/15/10, as forecasts and work allows. I'm based in the Chicago area, and expect to go anywhere from Texas to Colorado to Nebraska, as the forecast demands.
Of course I'd love to chase with someone who's over 21, with meteorology and storm chasing experience. I can meet you wherever you are at, if it's on the way out to a target.
I'm also interested in teaming up with inexperienced but mature chasers too, who want to "chase on the cheap" and save money by spreading the costs.
As far as chasing temperament goes, I look to being safe as first priority (in honor of Fabian Guerra, who mentored me until he was killed unexpectedly in 2009). I will divert away from any situation that doesn't feel safe, even if it means missing a tornado...the idea being that there will always be more opportunities. If you are looking for the maximum thrill, I'm probably not the guy for you. But if you are interested in maximum thrill with safety, then we might be a good match.
(FYI, politically speaking, I'm conservative. If you are liberal democrat in your views, you will find me rather irritating and frustrating. That won't make for an enjoyable time for you, so you can avoid the pain by not responding.)
Equipment-wise, I will be purchasing some soon...laptop, I already have a data-card, am planning to get a signal-booster and antenna for remote areas. Any other stuff is welcome that will enhance the chase for all.

Sounds like fun

Hello Everyone!!

My husband and I have been chasing storms for two years now and we are in the process of taking our advances spotter training. We live in Southern Wisconsin (30 minutes S. of Madison and 35 minutes N. of Illinois). We don't have much in the way of money atm, as we are both FT students, but we do have a house and food to offer anyone coming our way. We would like to hook up with a crew for a few chases this year in our ara and possibly in Iowa, MN, Ill, or Mo. If you are interested let us know!! Maybe we can trade off housing and food for the same?!?!

Send me a PM and maybe we can figure out a perfect barter!!!

Happy Chasing and BE SAFE!!!

Chase Partner

Hey Evryone, My Name is Dennis Gelinek and I'm a student at Luther Seminary right now in the St Paul. I am finishing my studies this May and will be heading back home to Germany in June.

I am a weather enthusiast and have been reading up on chase and forecast related materials. I wanted to go chase since last year, when the two tornado system went through the cities in August, but i couldn't because i am car-less.

So i have no "on the road" chase experience, but i am a quick learner.

I wondered if anyone would be willing to take me along on some chases, if the chance arises? I am fairly flexible time wise.

Let me know if that would be possible and if you have anymore questions about me.

Thank you

Dennis Gelinek

Good morning. I have finally got myself financially able to chase on the Plains this year. I have my own 4x4 pickup in excellent shape with laptop, aircard, GPS, GR3, CB radio, and light duty camera gear. I've been an E-Spotter for years and try to keep myself up to date with the latest training and technology. I've done alot of storm spotting in and around the Paducah, KY area and would like to go out west and get in the mix with a mothership. If anyone wouldn't mind to have me "tag along" in your group, I would sincerely appreciate it. I would take the journey myself, but unfamiliar terrian and trying to look over data at the same time is very difficult. I would like to not spend the rest of my life wondering around the plains looking for a tube. I'd ever sponser dinner a couple nights just for letting me tag along. Just PM me! Thanks and have a great day...

Edit: Also, I am a heavy machinery mechanic and keep a decent set of tools with me while on the road so I can help with any light repairs that may spring up along the way....

NEWBIES!!! - Veteran Chaser needs ride

Truman Boyer here.

I've been chasing since 1985, on the Plains since '95.
I've seen 44 tornadoes, this year I want to at least
"shoot my age" (46).

I mostly chase solo,
driving out from Maryland every year
and then limping back home.

This year I want to maximize my chase window
and minimize my driving fatigue.

I would like to fly out, and meet up with someone
who could benefit from my experience, or just needs
an extra hand. I will share expenses, and help you
to minimize yours.

With me, the mission comes first.
I travel light and carry a single packed bag.
Sleeping on hotel floors, in cars,
in truck stop parking lots, or
camping out are all fine by me,
as long as we get where we need to be.

I am an excellent log distance driver
and a skilled mechanic (you bring the tools).
"Tag team" driving can double your range.

I'm also a professor, so I can teach you all the science
and forecasting skills you need to know.

I can get you there,
keep you safe (as safe as I am !)
show you what you need to know,
and save you money.

I want to chase the last 3 weeks of May,
or close to that.

I would need you to deliver me to and from the
airport, and if you could host me during
inactive weather periods, that would be great.
(I will camp out in your yard if you let me!)

If you think I am a good match for your plans,
let me know (PM me).

I am also interested in going along with any
East Coast groups, as well.

Let me know.
Truman

Hello all. Allow me to introduce myself as this is my first post. My name is Nikki, I am a corectional officer and a mom. I grew up on a small farm in Oklahoma and have since moved around a bit and am now back home on the family farm. Growing up I can remember sitting on the front poarch many many many stormy nights with my parents watching storms pass. I can even remember a time when I was around 6 years old, a tornado touched down within two miles of my home and my father had to drag me to the cellar becaust I wanted to watch it eat the houses!!! Storm spotting/chasing has been a passion/hobby of mine for a while now. My fiance and I recently took our first storm spotting class this year and are very motivated and excited to sink our teeth into the storm world. We live in the arm pit of oklahoma (the panhadle of the state is the arm :D) and we basically sit right in the epicenter of severe weather. We would like to find someone with more experience under their belts to show us the ropes in exchage for the fact that we live around here and we know the area pretty well and know some pretty comfy and cheap places to sleep :D. We have our own transportation and have a fairly flexible schedual for the next 6 months or so. We have a 4x4 pickup truck that is very reliable and comfortable for long rides and has lots of room!! While we lack on the equpiment side (as in we don't have all the fancy gear that most people have) We are looking for someone that would be able to tell us what would be a smart buy and what would be a waste of time.

If this interests anyone please please please let me know. We are so eager and excited to learn and to experience!!!
