I am posting this from Joel. I received an e-mail from him asking about finding someone to chase with and learn about chasing. He lives in the Stillwater area. I don't know him but am posting this as a favor to someone who seems enthusiastic about becoming a chaser.
Bill Hark
My name is Joel and I am currently a sophomore at Oklahoma State in
Stillwater majoring in Aviation management. I am writing this e-mail as
someone who loves severe weather (especially tornadoes) and is
interested in chasing, but at the moment does not have the resources or
the time to do it by myself. This is not my first attempt to try to get
into the field. At this point I am an extreme novice, I only know the
basics with severe weather and tornadoes. So, I am no way going to chase
on my own. The only option for me right now would be to tag along with
someone and learn (I dont have the time to research this on my own and
deck out my car due to school and money). This is where I need help.
Do you know anybody that wouldn't mind having somebody tag along with
them to not only learn about chasing and storms but to also help as
well? The thing I really want is to be taught about the field of storm
chasing. I am in NO WAY wanting to be a tourist, I would be there to
learn and help out (by helping I mean to pay for gas, help drive if need
be or be an extra eye on the road, look at the weather radar, etc.).
Even if I got with somebody I would be fine not seeing a tornado for a
long time, thats just icing on the cake. I still love severe weather
and looking at the storm structure. The experience and what I would
learn would be what matters. So, as a person who is really sincere
about learning and finding out about storm chasing, I would greatly
appreciate it if anybody could please give me any advice or people you
know who might be interested in somebody to ride along and help. If you
can't help I totally understand, but I appreciate you at least reading
this.
