• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 & CR2 raw images

Does the latest version of Photoshop CS4 support the Canon CR2 raw images without issues? Adobe uses (actually bought) Camera RAW and uses it as a plug in.

I still read on chat groups that people can't get CS4 to see CR2 raw images without problems....and they have to download this or that.

I don't want to upgrade for $$$$$$$ if this is not fixed yet.

comments from users please..........

I've never had any issues. I have the Canon 5D MkII and the raw files open just fine.

I have CS4 and RAW files from a Rebel X, Rebel XT and XSi all open fine. They will spit out updates for it to support new cameras, and you may have to do that for your camera. Not thinking so though. I don't recall needing anything extra downloaded for it to work.

CS4 rules now. It's nice they have masking tools you can use on the RAW file, like a gradient mask and even some paint on options, but I don't use those much. Finally I can pretty much do all the adjustments I'd need in there and they are saved in those sidecar files to come back to later if you wanted.

Yes, generally it works fine. If it doesn't, updating the software to the latest version (via the adobe updater) will do the trick. Adobe supports almost all raw formats in whatever the most current version is. One day, if CS5 is ever made, CS4 will probably stop supporting new camera models - but you'll still be able to convert files to adobe .dng, which is supported by all Photoshop apps from CS3 and up.

Tldr; don't worry, you'll be fine.

With the discounts/promotions for CS4 that are being pushed right now, it looks to me like Adobe is trying to get more people in the door on that product (under the guise of holiday promotion), so they can push them upgrades to CS5 in the near future (Twenty-Ten).

I haven't had any problems with my Canon 30D CR2 files with CS4 and ACR. As others have said, letting the auto updater get you to the latest version should keep you in good shape.

Darren, what kind of promos are they running now? I was able to get a full copy of CS4 for the upgrade price with the purchase of a Wacom tablet. Seemed like a pretty good deal, and the tablet it pretty cool. I believe that promo is still going.
