6/17/09: NOW NE/KS/IA/MO/SD/TN/KY

oh yea, this storm is trying so hard to produce. velocities are looking good. She's carved out a couple good looking funnels, nothing to connect to the ground yet. The track is taking her directly towards Grand Island, though.

No idea why the SPC put out such a large 10/hatch reach over Central Iowa, since if this CAP and 850mb uber-uber-dry encroachment remains, the only thing we're going to be seeing tonight is the moon.

Right after the north part of Austin gets hit, It looks like Owatonna MN is getting a direct strike from another very serious circulation and likely tornado. Dang no doubt where the good shear/instability/cap balance was today.

Sounds like Austin MN had a serious tornado impact within the past 30 mins.
THIS TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR ROSE
CREEK...OR 7 MILES SOUTHEAST OF AUSTIN...MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 15 MPH.
THIS STORM PRODUCED A VIOLENT TORNADO IN AUSTIN AND DID PRODUCE
INJURIES.

New cells forming between Omaha and Des Moines in western Iowa. SPC's new outlook put large section of Iowa in 10%-hatched tornado threat.
