6/17/09: NOW NE/KS/IA/MO/SD/TN/KY

Hail 4" Plus!!

wunderground.com is showing that merging cell in Gage County, south of Beatrice NE topping out at 57,000 feet with max hail size 4.00 + The storm is showing a good tail hook structure on radar. Storm is veering to the east now so it's starting its "right turn" manuver!

Anybody in sight of the wall cloud/tornado??

Trained spotters reporting a Wedge Tornado on that storm. Just reported by WIBW from the NWS in Topeka

she is shifting her track, ESE, new tornado warning issued for marshall and nemaha counties in KS. No word if its still producing a tornado. Base Velocity doesnt look as impressive as it did when it was in NE, but i think she is just readjusting herself, she may produce once again.

Storms out by Bartlett, NE may or may not survive. I don't know why these up further North have been having this kind of trouble (maybe a harder CAP) but they really don't appear to be doing much more than popping up and falling over.

EDIT: Duh, the best parameters haven't reached that area yet. SPC has a discussion about extending the watch areas west and east of the current box down by the WF.

Tornado watch coming west of the current one.

Pressure dropping... great helicity... and 71 degree dewpoint now in Kearney. May need to leave work a bit early today. :)

Tornado watch 445 issued for a good portion of Western NE, Southeast WY, Northeast CO, and Northwest KS. Sitting in Lincoln right now, some CU trying to get going on the backside of the cirrus deck from the original supercells.

I feel bad sitting out on this one, car troubles, ugh.

*edit* watching a really nice cumulus tower going up south of Lincoln, probably a better look of it from Beatrice.

Mods - add KY please.
KMRX is showing two tornadic cells moving SE. Nothing has happened as yet, just hail and wind so far. Shown tornado warings for the last hour. A couple of the vol scans have shown flying eagle/shape...

Is anyone on these storms?

IA is done for, at least for points south of Ft. Dodge. Moisture is too shallow.

could see the CU tower going up south of Lincoln at a really fast pace, then BAM! Tower spreads out and the column falls back to the ground. Then another one goes up behind it, same result. The CAPE is too strong and preventing something from firing out here, still keeping hope though...
