Northeast Kansans were treated to a pair of SE bound mini-supercells yesterday. They were indeed rotating, and NWS Topeka was close to upgrading the severe warnings to tornado warnings. This one passed right over my neighborhood. Quite a treat for not expecting anything in our area.---Rick

I also took advantage of a quick drive out to North Topeka. Observed some weak rotation right before the storm reached Topeka before losing its strength. Also observed that great looking rainbow while driving west of downtown Topeka and the defined rain bands right beside it. I thought it was really interesting how small scale the whole storm was but still had some supercell qualities to it.

Here is the one picture I got from the chase looking west from K-10 and highway 40 intersection outside of Lawrence. The cell was barely producing rain echos at this point.
