5/12/10 NOW: OK/KS/IA

I was right by the Towanda tornado stopped at a gas station, there was a monumental amount of rainfall and some very very strong winds but because the rain was so hard I couldn't see anything from where I was. I had intended to come off at the El Dorado exit and drop a bit south as at that point there was some rotation starting. The lightning was really intense too. At the time I did wonder if there was a tornado about to form.

I got back on the highway to arrive right behind the mess with the semi's, one was the wrong way round on the wrong side of the road wrapped under the bridge, local radio from law enforcement says it seems that the power cables came down with the strong winds and the trucks drove into them almost 'clotheslining them' WWE style. Two injuries reported and a serious mess to clean up that they said would be within 1-3 hours.

Bow Echo entering the Kansas City Metro. Spotters reporting winds of 70 mph in the western suburbs (Johnson County, KS). Appears the core of the bow will move just south of downtown Kansas City, MO and through Jackson County, MO over the next 20-30 minutes. Movement is to the ENE.
