OK, I know the organizers haven't posted anything yet, nor is the website released yet, but I was thinking about it the other day (in fact about the same time as last year too): what's going to be in store for this years 2010 National Storm Chaser Convention (NSCC)?

Perhaps some thoughts and suggestions for the guys planning the event. A reminder to get those videos ready for video night. Perhaps suggest some T-shirt designs.

What if any activities are people planning before or after the event. I personally have been thinking of extending the trip to a week, to spend more time in the mountains...or maybe go check out downtown for once.

Poll ends Feb. 15th, 2010 (although for some reason it says 9-26-2009????)
I made the poll public...so others can see your responses.

Mods...for some reason the end date on the poll didn't take correctly...is it possible to fix this...or delete the thread so I can redo it.

I e-mailed Roger Hill a few weeks ago, and he mentioned the hotel where the convention is usually held was booked for Presidents Day weekend (when its usually held), and he would make an announcement when a new venue is found.

All:

Yes, its a bit early, can't release any details, but I will tell you that the planning is very much underway.

Some of the speakers that have agreed to attend this event is amazing. We try very hard to 'outdo' the prior year..and 2010 is no exception. So far, its shaping up to be the very best.

Stay tuned!

Hi all!

The Annual National Storm Chaser Convention will be held Feb 12-14 in Denver at the Red Lion Hotel at 4040 Quebec St. A different Red Lion than last time, this is the Red Lion we host our Denver based tours from!

Just today, I got confirmation that Mike Bettes will be joining us, as well as Dr Forbes. Of course there will be MANY speakers and maybe even a play to have Al Roker join us as well. I am sure Dr Howie Bluestein will be there, as well as Tim Marshall, and likely Dr Paul Markowski (leader of Vortex 2) and others.

Hope to see many of you there. The website will be updated in the next 6 weeks or so at www.chaserconvention.com .

Well, that rules me out (again). I can't go near Valentine's Day... It wouldn't be right...

For those that have been there before, what is the normal registration fee for this?

Lucky for me, my wife loves studying weather just as much as I do. She'd be excited if I took her to the NSSC on Valentine's Day! :)

Last year was my first convention and I thought it was great. Roger and Tim (and others involved) put on a great show. Good networking, an outstanding line-up of speakers, and an all-around good time. The only thing that needs improvement are the convention hall chairs. It was harder on the "backside" than a 2,000 mile 3-day chase!

Just bring the "significant other" and plan a nice dinner and some "alone time" while in Denver.

Or better yet, before or after the trip, treat her to a isolated cabin up in the mountains. Someplace with a fire place, lots of natural wood, and other romantic touches. When you are at the conference, let her go to a spa and treat herself to some relaxation. Be sure to take extra money for quality wine and food. And make sure there is something that she can get all dressed up for too....dinner might be one thing, or a visit to Denver's symphony hall, etc.

And that usually includes a dinner and a welcoming reception. I am sure that Roger and Tim will have the details soon, but that's the general picture - a very good deal IMHO.

Wow sounds like a good time. I'm trying to figure my budget for the National Hurricane Conference but this sounds interesting so I might try to do both.
