2008-05-29 NOW: SD/NE/KS/IA/MN/WI

Mark Farnik reports a large violent tornado near Tipton.

This is not surprising looking at base SRV (incredible gate to gate I must add) looks like this could continue for a while until south of Concordia, KS. I just hope that residents are taking cover.

Are there any streams in the area?

The Kansas storms are within the KSN viewing area, and you can watch some decent intermittent local coverage at: www.ksnw.com Click on "live streaming coverage."

Might just be me but won't stream for me.

Just found out Team Remora's cam is up (for now) on severe studios near Beloit, ks FYI.

SRV has come down, look like its cycling.

Doug Mitchell and Jordan Wrecke don't think that the town of Glen Elder took a hit, but still a large meso and rotating wall cloud. They said the wedge lasted about 10 minutes.

Edit: Power flashes to their north....they are on highway 9.

The storm that went through Kearney and Grand Island producing tornadoes has finally reached the Omaha area, as nothing more than a shower with a little lightning here and there. It died down just in time...things could have been much worst had there been more sunshine today.

I finally got a hold of Darin Brunin, said he was extremely close...the multi-vortex tornado reminded him of Mike H's May 22 04 video, countless funnels dancing around.

Mark reports damage in Glen Elder - can't go anywhere because highway 24 is blocked with debris.

Reports structures destroyed south of Glen Elder, roofs ripped off, trees blown clean.

:edit: Mark's seeing major power flashes north of Beloit towards Jewel.

The Jewell County, KS supercell has an amazing presentation right now on radar. Long lived tornado/meso has occluded and lifted NNE almost directly over the town of Jewell, KS. A new meso/possible tornado has formed on the SE flank of the first meso and has just passed very near Randall, KS.

the 0212 UTC volume scan from KUEX showed a ~85 knot delta-V tornado vortex signature at 0.5 degrees almost directly square center over Jewell. Haven't heard any reports yet, but it is possible the decaying stage of this long-lived tornado may have passed directly through Jewell. I hope not, but the 88D data certainly suggests something dire :(
